First car that I ever owned where the radio has died. I tried to put in a fuse as recommended by a mechanic friend of mine but that didn't do anything.

Trying to get a radio fixed, I get the standard answer, we have to run a diagnostic to figure out what the problem is before we can fix it. The problem is that it doesn't work. Why in the hell would I want diagnostics that cost $145 and then they have to rip out the radio and send it back to the manufacturer so they can run a diagnostic test to tell me it is broken.

I just want the radio replaced but they want to run diagnostic bull crap. Because the car is no longer made, the dealer said I might not be able to get a radio. Any suggestions as to how I can order a radio and install it myself.

Like I said, I have never owned a car where the radio has died so soon...the car is only seven years old. I had a Oldsmobile that had a radio that still worked when I took it to dump and it was a 1998. So what gives with all the electronic crap that goes wrong with this car...
