I BROUGHT MY 2008 HHR IN FOR RECALL IGNITION. WE WERE TOLD THAT THE FRONT STABILIZERS, STRUTS, TRANSMISSION SEAL LEAKING. HAD A PROBLEM A COUPLE MONTHS AGO, COULD NOT START CAR. HAD IT TOWED TO DEALER AND WAS TOLD THEN THAT THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG. THEY SAID YOUR STEERING WHEEL JUST NEEDED TO BE TURNED. $300.00 LATER AND NOTHING ABOUT THE IGNITION RECALL. ANYWAY, THEY CLAIMED EVERYTHING WAS FINE BUT RECOMMENDED REPLACEMENT OF SERPENTINE BELT.

WE BROUGHT HER TO OUR MECHANIC AND ASKED HIM TO DO BELT AND CHECK WHAT THE CLUNKING SOUND WAS. HE SAID THIS IS A ONGOING PROBLEM WITH SEVERAL GM MODELS AND SHOULD BE ON A RECALL. HOW DOES ONE MAKE THIS HAPPEN BECAUSE IT SEEMS LIKE THEY KNOW ABOUT THESE PROBLEMS AND SOME ARE DEADLY. SO WHAT NEEDS TO BE DONE BEFORE ANYTHING HAPPENS, BECAUSE MECHANIC SAID THE STEERING COLUMN LOOSENS UP AND THIS CAUSES THE CLUNKING SOUND AND I WOULD ASSUME IT COULD LEAD TO A SERIOUS PROBLEM.
