I lifted the hatchback lid on my HHR to load the dog food (after I had put my dog [she is a big one] in the car via the side rear door). It NEVER occurred to me that the hatchback would not stay up as it always had. I had NO CLUE -- NO WARNING that a potential disaster was in the making. I turned to transfer the giant kibble bag from the basket into the rear and WHAM! on my head the damned hatchback hit me HARD. Its been over 24 hours and my head still hurts and is sore where it hit me! Since the incident, I have imagined what would have happened if I did not have good peripheral vision! I saw movement out of the corner of my eye and ducked enough that the thing did not knock me out. It is heavy; it COULD have knocked me out. What if it had? There I would have been laid out on the PetsMart parking lot with a huge dog escaping and then trying to protect her unconscious mom while people came running up to help. Oh, the image is terrifying. I guess I'm going to have to take the sucker (the HHR) to the dealer to have it fixed -- ALONG WITH THE RECALL that is SUPPOSED to be fixed in July. Shish.
