The contact owns a 2000 Chevrolet Impala. While operating the vehicle, the air conditioner suddenly stopped working after shutting the vehicle off. The doors would not unlock and trapped the driver inside the vehicle. The contact indicated that a security sensor light illuminated on the instrument panel. In addition, when the vehicle was shut off, all the interior and exterior lights remained illuminated. The cause of the failures was not diagnosed. The manufacturer was notified. The failure mileage was 73,000. MA 10/26/2015

The A/C system stinks due to water retention in the heater which caused mold. The dealer could mask the odor but could not eliminate it. A loud bang occurred when the vehicle was started in cool or cold weather. The dealer indicated it was due to an electrical spike. The vehicle experienced sudden acceleration while merging into traffic. The brakes rotors have failed three times, every 20000 miles on average.

The lights on the dash board were too bright, which blinded the consumer when driving at night. Also the engine light illuminated. The consumer stated the steering system on the vehicle required high effort to turn the steering wheel when cornering, vehicle course corrections, and holding the steering wheel in one position, which caused injuries. The rear side view mirrors, block the consumer's view of the oncoming lane and felt that the sensor should be at eye level, the A/C ports on the dash blow on the operator's fingers and or shoulders and caused serious distractions, the horn is hard to find (specifically for the elderly), there was a wind noise in the back doors, a rattle in the front strut, and a rumbling noise had come from the heater blower. There are two: One: A/C "overflow catch trap" collects water and does not drain, causing moldy smell and requires cleaning out of "trap" two: Front end brakes "wobble" - took in 3 times under warranty to have fixed and once had to pay at 12K miles to have to have rotors replaced. Otherwise replied to as "normal". still wobbles (I would not describe as the expected "pulsing") - never completely satisfied at any time reported. Now of warranty (of course) but who has time to keep taking the car back in?

Air conditioning blower motor emitted a high-pitched noise at 8,029 miles. The dealer replaced the blower motor. The same problem occured at 33,130 miles. The blower was repaired by the dealer. The brakes began to vibrate at 17,000 miles at 55 mph. The dealer repaired or replaced the rotors on the front end. This same vibration reappeared at approximately 31,000 miles. The dealer would not repair the brake rotors a second time. Also at approximately 31,000 miles, the front end emitted a thudding sound at low speeds (20 mph). The dealer would not consider this problem, though the vehicle was still within warranty mileage and time. The final diagnosis on the thudding noise under the front end was completely "shot" struts.
