i still have this problem.. when i want to accelerate fast the car hesitates, or you gotta help the transmission shift and let off the gas a little bit n then press again... but now i got an idea of what it is

GM is aware of premature failure of catalytic converters for 3.4L motors. On another site it is reported that GM will offer some of the money for a catalytic converter ($595 for OEM part) for Impalas with less than 120k. Mine was 7.5k over.
