Impala LS V6

I read alot of complaints about turn signals on Impalas. This car really is a lemon for electrical problems and transmission. I learned about the trick about turning on and off the hazard flashers 3 times to bring back the turn signals. It does work. But it sure could be dangerous in certain situations where a lane change is neccesary suddenly in heavy traffic. Also, once a fellow motorist was annoyed that I wasn't signalling, so he flashed me a signal of disapproval. Thanks G.M. I have been a Chevy fan for 40+ years, but hearing all the problems now, without any assistance unless we pay, other manufacturers track records are looking very good.

Driving this car is very dangerous. I never know when the turn signals are going to work or not. It seems as if GM would have to fix since this is very dangerous. I have almost been hit numerous times. This is a very common issue with these cars and should be fixed by the dealer.

Impala 3.4L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 40,000 miles

Bought my 2002 Chevy Impala new. At just over 36,000 miles had transmission replaced.. then, my AC/HT switch quit working on level 1. AC still works on levels 2-5, so I haven't had it replaced. Estimate to fix was $387.65 because they have to buy a whole new blower motor/switch. Then just a month or so later, my engine wouldn't start after I had stopped to get gas. After about 30 minutes, it started and didn't have any more problems for a while, then out of nowhere, went to the store and when I came out, car wouldn't start. Waited about 15 minutes and it started right up. Has done this several times, and I never know where or when I'm going to get stranded. No one can find the cause.

My headlights fill with water and my highbeam light blows out. Had the whole new light assembly replaced on the driver's side. I think that was around $135 to fix. Really can't remember there's been so many things it's running together in my frazzled brain! Guess what, that didn't fix the problem. Every time I have a new highbeam light replaced, it blows out.

Went out to my car this morning and the window was down (went down on its own after I turned car off). Surprise, my window wouldn't roll up. Cost $140 to get a new window switch/motor. Not happy. Car only has 51,000 miles. Can't afford a new one.l

My blinkers work when they want to. Sometimes they work fine, sometime I turn them on and they work and then stop and sometimes the console indicator light shows a rapid blinking and sometimes the console doesn't have any light indicator at all. It's like there's no connection whatsoever.

When I took my car in to have the window fixed, they told me I needed a new Hazard switch to fix my blinker problem. Can you spell LEMON??????????

Turn signals only work when they want to. Apparently, I can replace the hazard switch to repair turn signals...stupid place for turn signals. It is a bad hazard switch which cost over $300 FOR A LITTLE PART All I would have to do is unplug and plug a new one in!.. I will do without thank you! Also have problems with AC, and I cannot wind down my front windows for fear they will not go back up. Now my exhaust is getting louder and louder!!!...It would be nice to be able to get parts, inexpensively. Garage said condenser for AC is $450, and it is a dealer part. I will have to do some serious internet research for reasonable parts. I hope there is a suit that I can be a part of to get this fixed. After researching the internet, I have found the turn signal problem to be significant with other Impala owners..this sucks.

Had to wait 3 weeks for back ordered dealer part. Switch behind hazards button on dashboard. Works fine now, but signaling noise sounds different, just an observation.

Impala LS 3.8L

I manage to get the service dept. to admit that this is very common in the impala and Malibu. They said that the hazard switch usually causes this so I took a chance and replaced it myself. It worked!

Impala LS 3.2L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 59,030 miles

Signal lights quit working occasionally for no apparent reason and then start working later. Cycling the hazard switch and or hitting the dash above this switch will usually get them working again. The dealer suggested it could be either the hazard switch or the turn signal switch, both expensive fixes.Has there been a recall for this problem? Will GM pay something for the fix?

Impala 3.4L

Also have coolant leak (started last year and then seemed to go away - but is back), have replaced the window switch on driver door, blinkers work when THEY want to - not when I need them too, and have had the car fail to start several times for no apparent reason. I'll try again to start in about a half hour or so and it will then start!!! Driving us crazy. We loved this car and the way it road but are now getting nickle and dimed to death.

Right blinker flashes 90 miles per hour on the control panel, and in the rear of the car the front blinker does not flash at all. Seems to have stemmed from the water standing in the headlights.

less than 50000 miles and turn signals don't work all the time. Local repair shop told me you have to replace the hazard light button, he said if turn signals don't work try jiggling the hazard light button. Tried it a few months ago and have not had a problem since. Hope they keep working.

THE LOSS OF STOP LAMPS AND REAR HAZARD LAMPS COULD FAIL TO WARN A FOLLOWING DRIVER THAT THE VEHICLE IS BRAKING AND/OR IS STOPPED AND COULD RESULT IN A CRASH. THE TURNING SIGNAL ALSO DOES NOT WORK EVEN WHEN YOU ARE DRIVING.
