Impala

  • Automatic transmission
  • 68,725 miles

As much as I can say about a used car it is good to only travel as a run around car basically to go back and forth to work without trouble but I can't think of going on vacation with my family in this car. the estimate found by the pressure test for the cooling system found a leak in the water pump with an estimate of $425 before labor and tax of 6% which id double the national avg.

Impala V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 99,000 miles

well, It's only been a few months. My fiancee' and I were driving back from a workout and the engine started redlining a few blocks from home (thankfully). No steam, so I pulled over and parked then popped the hood. It was spewing coolant all over the place again. I could even see it leaking from the top of the water pump. This is ridiculous. This has been one of the worst cars that I have ever owned. I think I am going to switch to your competitor chevy!!

Impala V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 94,000 miles

The water pump was the problem and had to have replaced. It was throwing coolant all over the engine, so had the serpentine belt replaced at the same time.

Impala 3.4L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 49,129 miles

I realize that 49K is a decent number of miles but I am disappointed that the water pump went on this car so soon. I expected better. I was lucky though - when it failed, the belt showered the engine compartment with coolant so I knew that there was a problem before my 2,500 mile trip and was able to have it repaired - it could have been worse - I could have been stranded on I95.

I wonder - what's next and how do I prepare for it?

Impala 3.4L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 55,700 miles

The day after I got my car back from the dealership (transmission 2nd gear clutches and horn went out), my hot coolant temp. light came on while sitting at a red light. I love how this problem wasn't caught by the mechanics, literally the day before!!!! The car was leaking coolant and I couldn't figure out where it was coming from, had 2 sometimes 3 little puddles from it. Turns out it was the pump. The reason I couldn't tell where it was leaking is because it was getting thrown everywhere under the hood!
