There is a tapping noise when I turn on my air or heating unit in my 2006 Chevy Impala. I was told it would cost me $1600.00 dollars to replace all 4. Is there a recall on this? I was told a lot of people have that problem by the mechanic and he says it will continue to tap and drain the battery and make your car not start. I'm so PISSED!

Basically, for about half the time I've owned this car the air condition has made this awful clicking noise (like someone loudly hitting a chalkboard with a wood pointer) any time the air was turned to max blow or max cool, and certainly when both were on. You could fiddle with the dials some and it would eventually stop. It is incredibly annoying, especially given that I would barely get cool air as well most of the time. Just another laundry list of problems with this car. Search 'Impala Click' on Youtube to get an idea.

The clattering noise would start as soon as AC was turned on or changed and would last several minutes, very loud clattering sound. Eventually wouldn't stop so had it repaired, wasn't under warranty so paid out of pocket.

The air conditioner is bad, worked one week after I got it. I spent $2,000.00 on fixing problem and still isn't fixed
