check engine, traction, reduced power engine lights come on i went in to my station and they did the code and found it to be P2138 and they replaced part # FMP22742315.they said that GM said it's a common issue with these car's.?! i sent an email later to GM and i heard back with a case # 364-005-76 and a phone # 1-800-222-1020, but i have not been aable to get back to them...since then the problem has come back a few times and i have brought the car back to the station.

12-18-17 they got the same code P2138 and did diagnostic testing, and unable to get the car to go ' LIMP ' . mayve this should be in the electrical area....anyways, this cost an additional $ $123.25 no visable issues and they applied dielectric grease to terminals.

now, right before christmas, my car is back in the shop and i have a loaner car and today is 12-27-17 and kevin has been trying to reach TODD at GM to go over warranty stuff and anything they know about this, but TODD has been extremely busy and not getting back to KEVIN...at my station they have driven the car over 50 miles trying to get the problem to happen, and won't happen...?!

notes on 12-18-17

technician scanned computer and found p2138 code in history, no codes are currently active.vehicle test drove normal and did not have reduced power message displayed at any time during testing or test drives.technician researched diagnoctic trouble code (DTC ) and found a techinical service bulletin (TSB ) from GM pertaining to P2138 DTC ...TSB# 07-06--04-019-E states that it is possible to get water intrusion inside electrical panel-body control model wiring harness, which can affect the electrical current to the accelerator postion switch.?!

Update from Jan 3, 2018: 12-28-17...all three lights came on...check engine light and traction and reduced power to engine...happened twice , and station cannot get it to happen for them...technicians did all sorts of testing and gave me a loaner car... they decided to check the " part " thats in there to see if is bad/needs to be replaced and found that the " updated " accelerator pedal postion switch , had been marked on the box " updated " but had the older version in the box so i had the wrong part in my car?! so, the updated part looked totally different and they replaced the part with the accurate one...it felt different and all appears to be working ok since i picked the car up..todays date is 1-2-18..i talked to kevin my technician, and they are talking to GM about credit and whatnot..

Impala LS V6

I bought this pre-owned 2009 Chevrolet Impala LS on Oct 9, 2015 and 12 hrs after I brought it home the check engine light came on. I called the dealership that I bought it from and they had me bring it in, they replaced the gas cap and reset the computer and it lasted one week- then the check engine light went on a second time. I called, they said bring it in - they ran smoke through the hoses or something and couldn't find anything & reset the computer and sent me on my way. That lasted about four weeks and the check engine light went on for a third time.

I spoke to the general Manager of the dealership where I purchased the car and they told me to bring it in and they took it to a Chevy dealership where they had the car for two weeks (that was Dec1-14, 2015), they replaced the solenoid and I thought, oh good, it's finally fixed- but it's not. On Jan 6, 2016, that's right, the check engine light is on again, this is the fourth time in less then three months that I have had this car and I feel that it's been in the shop more then I have had it and able to drive it. At this point the dealership will not return my calls and I wrote a complaint with the BBB in my area because now no one will answer my calls and no one seems interested in fixing my car and I am beyond aggravated.

I just want a car that I have to pay a loan on to be able to drive it without having the check engine light on and I (have had the codes ran - and each time it's the same codes) they have done what the codes say could be the problem but apparently that's not what it is because if it were the check engine light would not continue to go on.

Impala LTZ 3.9L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 64,845 miles

This problem occurred three times beginning Nov. 17/14, Dec 26/14, April 30/15

In first instance was passing Speedy Auto Service as I did not feel it would make it to the dealer. Repair bill $695.02 CA. Second time was left at Speedy Auto as they had made the initial repair. They did not find a problem as it had cleared by next day. Problem occurred again but same thing cleared again.

Received letter fro GM noting the problem exactly and further stated "Do not take to General Motors dealer as a result of this letter unless you believe that your vehicle has the condition as described above.

Of course I had the condition. Called the dealer for appointment Two weeks later I took it in as appointed with notice from GM. After a couple hours they called and I went in and they had done nothing as the condition was not present. I mentioned it clears up itself after a time and happened three times and asked why they didn't replace the part as described in the notice. The service rep said it had to be present when brought in. I mentioned again that that is impossible as it clears on it's own. She said they can't diagnose it unless present. No where in the GM notice does it mention the condition must be present, rather it says "unless you believe that your vehicle has the description as described above" I believed alright but they obviously didn't believe me as they did nothing and charged me $33.73

When it occurred the third time It was Sunday. I was out of my home town (eight hours away) Dealership closed. A friend arranged with another Garage to fix the problem first thing next morning. That Garage called the Dealership who said they can't do it before Thursday. He then proceeded to replace the part noted in the GM Notice checked all wiring and modules and all was OK. He even road tested the car and guaranteed his work for one year. His charge $463.30

Had this problem occurred while driving home I may have been as much as 300 km from any dealer and 150 km from any town. It's a desolate highway but the only one other than another which would be a twelve hour trip. I had also called GM on this after my visit to the local dealer and was given the same excuses. I called them again after I returned from my trip and again given the same excuses until I requested to speak with her superior who I interrupted when the same story was started and told to listen to the whole series of events and I requested all costs be refunded. Her reply is to send by fax all documentation and invoices outlining the charges and they will see what they can do. I said that does not sound promising. However I did this today June 10/15.

Now I wait.

GM need to recall all of the Chevy Impala, for engine problem. Every where I take the car to be repaired the first thing they say is: you need to take the car back to the dealer. I took the car back Heritage Chevrolet dealer, they want to charge me $998, plus the diagnostic test fee $115. GM should recall all these cars.
