Impala LTZ

  • Automatic transmission
  • 58,000 miles

Owned the car since 2011, bought certified from a major dealer. I put up with the noise for months until colder weather came and I had no heat. Within months of paying, the loud ticking started again!! The winter of 2018, I found out if I jiggle the temperature switch up and down, I can get the heat to come out. So I put up with the noise and aggravation of not being able to warm the inside with the remote start. I cannot endure that this winter. I am putting it in shop in a few days, and was given estimate of over $500.

  • Automatic transmission
  • 50,000 miles

There are four actuators in my wife's car and it has fairly low miles on it. It started almost a year ago with one actuator and ended up being three before we got it fixed. It was so bad it drained her battery and I had to jump start it every time she wanted to drive it. We just got it back this week and now the last one started going off again. I see so many problems with this, but GM does nothing to correct this problem for the owners. It takes forever to get to some of these actuators which is even more of a pain in the a**.

Impala LT 3.6L

  • Manual transmission

This is the second time in less than a year that this ticking problem came to be. I have had to replace this part or it would get louder and stay on longer. This should be a recall item and figure out why this is a failure of a design of the car.

I replaced the door/ a/c actuator April 2015 and a year and a half later it's ticking again. Called General Motors to get assistance with the repair costs and all they did was send me to a Chevy dealer. They tried to rip me off so I have to get a general mechanic to install the part.

Impala LT 3.5L

I've had to replace my air door actuator, took me about 2 mos. and $85.00 in tools to do the job. Now another one is going out. These items are not in a very easy spot to replace, would it be too much to ask that just maybe place them in more of an accessible location? Or maybe go back to manual for these parts? I can throw a switch for hot or cold air, or even defrost and or room venting. I am thinking of cutting the dash and trying to install a pulley system just for that reason. It would be cheaper than having to change these things every year or so. Plus this car is now 5 years old what kind of resale do they offer?

Last year I had an actuator replaced because of a loud ticking noise. It cost about $200. Now, about a year later I had the same thing happen again. Loud ticking noise when I locked or unlocked the car, opened the door, changed the heater or a/c temp. Basically when I looked at the car it happened. It did it for about a minute then stopped. Then if I messed with anything or got out and locked the car or even just walked away from it...it started ticking again. It sounded like a machine gun. I evidently have 3 of these little suckers. I have had 2 replaced and wonder how long before the 3rd one goes out. What a pain. Now another $240 to fix this one. Why is there no recall on this? Too many people are having the same problem and nothing you can do except pay to have it replaced.

Amazing how many complaints listed online and no recall. Sucks that a car with only 65000 miles has this problem.

It's annoying that so many car owners are having the same issue with the same complaint over and over again over so many years and Chevrolet have not made any improvements on the part being install during the making of the car and nothing to satisfy the current car owners over so many years maybe we need to stop buying GM product............

For no apparent reason at all, my car started making a loud clicking noise. It sounds like my car will blow up! I had the ignition recall addressed. They put a plastic cover over my key! Now this! I will not buy another Chevrolet! They do not stand behind their products or care about their customers.

Impala LT

  • Automatic transmission

Just one day out of the blue I open up my driver door and all of sudden I have a very loud, annoying, non-stopping ticket noise. Couldn't really tell where it was coming from but even when I shut the door the sound did not stop, very annoying and people outside can hear it it was so loud.

So I search on YouTube and find numerous videos with people with the same issue andit just happened out of nowhere, no recalls. Extended warranty does not cover so I'm left to handle this random fuckery on my own. The part can ONLY be purchased at dealership, literally. I went everywhere looking and no luck so I purchased the part (Blend door actuator) for about $150, the shop wanted $480 in all to replace. Luckily I have a good local mechanic that was able to replace for very cheap, took him about 15minutes.

The bad part about it is this car has three of them and they all will go out and have this same noise. One is by the gas and brake pedal, that's where mine was, and one is in glove compartment, and the other is somewhere in the rear. It just bothers me knowing that I will soon have the other two go out, out of nowhere, and bc that noise is so annoying I have to drop everything at that time and get it repaired.
