problem #2

Jan 202017

Impala LT 3.6 FFV

  • Automatic transmission
  • 60,000 miles

We had the stabilitrak warning issue a while back. Car was under reduced power on a busy road. Pulled over and let the car sit for a while and problem went away. No further issues with it since. However, there was a lot of snow that day and slippery out. One thing for others to try is that I put the shifter in manual mode and shifted that way and got engine power back while this was happening. So I am reporting this for others to try if you have this issue to get you to safety.

Update from Feb 26, 2019: Issue came back 20000 miles later. It was a right rear wheel sensor. Replaced for $450. This also sets off the stabilitrak and can cause the electronic assisted power steering to stop working.

Impala LTZ 3.4L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 62,000 miles

At 62,000 miles, driving the 2014 Impala down the street I came to a stop and proceded to make a left. The bells and whistles started going off. Engine light came on, Stabilitrak system message displayed, the ABS light came on, "loss of engine power" message popped up and engine lost power. I couldn't drive over 25 mph at that point. So I took the scenic route. I stopped by Advanced Auto to check the engine light, but, their code reader didn't work. I went home cut the car off and 2 hours later the engine light was out. I'm glad I wasn't on the highway, like some others were. God Bless. No diagnostic could be done w/o a check engine or other warning lights. This could have serious consequences.
