I had the coolant leaking into the engine without knowing it until the heater didn't work. Just had the oil changed 3-4 weeks earlier. Checked the coolant and it was empty. Filled it and it was empty again after 2 days. No smoke from tailpipe. By the time this issue arose, mechanic fixed the engine replacing the gasket, and the engine now uses Prestone antifreeze but said the damage was already done from water getting into engine. He said it was the terrible product Chevy uses (DEX-COOL) that was the problem as it gunks up everything. The engine makes an awful noise upon starting but after warming up and driving a several miles it smooths out, however I do not use it except for limited driving and would not trust it on Interstate. Also, get frequent oil changes....every 3-5 months!

GM should have a recall on this with under 70,000 on the car this should not happen. Had the car since 1997, only have 68,000 on it.
