Malibu

  • Automatic transmission
  • 130,000 miles

I first noticed the slippage going down hill in second gear around left hand curve. The tach would drop off and I would coast for a bit until I got back on the straight. I also noticed that it seemed to slip out of gear on a fast left hand acceleration from a stop. Does that indicate low trans. fluid? Also more recently when it was really cold outside I drove a mile to my mailbox and when I put it in reverse it wouldn't go. Eventually I got it to back up enough so I could turn around but at about 4000 rpm and made it back to the house.

Malibu v6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 126,000 miles

I have a 2001 Chevy Malibu that used to leave me stranded because of the Passlock crap. Finally, the light came on and never went off. Thank God, it seems to have repaired itself. The transmission began slipping right after I bought the used car. It's not always noticeable but is very sluggish at times. I get mad and floor it. The a/c works when it wants. The blower does the same. What a piece of crap. Guess I'll drive it til the damn wheels fall off. Don't think I'll ever buy a Chevy again tho.

Malibu 3.2L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 120,000 miles

I have, at times, had the accelerator stick too. It doesn't seem to be a constant problem, but happens every once in a while. Also, I have the hazard light clicking...that happens constantly. Right now, my biggest issue with the car is that the transmission fluid seems to disappear. I'd say it leaks, but there is never a spot anywhere I park that indicates a leak. Seems to me there would be some residual fluid SOMEWHERE??? Have/Did you had/have any luck with resolution on your issue(s)?

I am so disgusted with this car. Nothing but problems with it from almost day 1. Warranty did cover some things, but it shuts off whenever it feels like, paid $400 to have it scanned-no end result.. then coolant leaked, had almost everything replaced: thermostat, radiator, hoses, etc. Now, I'm leaking transmission fluid.. warranty expired. Even with warranty I shouldn't have all these problems.
