Malibu LS 3.1L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 151,000 miles

The key constantly gets stuck and won't turn on the ignition. Tried another key and, ignition will only turn when forcefully removing and reinserting key. Pins inside of the lock cylinder are becoming stuck, therefore it is an intermittent issue. Replacement of the lock cylinder and switch assembly is needed, and may need programmed on vehicles with the Pass Lock option.

My son was on his way to school and stopped at a convenience store. Afterwards, when he attempted to start the vehicle, the key would not turn in the ignition. Trying to turn the steering wheel did not help. The car had to be towed to the dealer. Of course, that was an ordeal, as the car could not be put in neutral. The car is at the dealership service department now, as I await a call from them, telling me of the problem, the fix and the cost.
