Malibu 6-cyl

  • 50,000 miles
The contact owns a 2005 Chevrolet Malibu. When turning the steering wheel, the contact heard a popping sound. The failure began six months ago and now it is causing the power steering to fail. The failure was very subtle at first, but now the power steering fails for days at a time. The air conditioning would activate on and off, but now it does not work at all. The dealer stated that the power steering module and air conditioning resistor needed to be replaced. The contact also stated that the control panel is warm to the touch after driving for some time. The vehicle is currently with the dealer and the repair will cost over $900. The current mileage was 70,000 and failure mileage was 50,000. Updated 09/10/08. The consumer stated the shocks went bad, the tie rod ends had to be replaced, the cd became stuck in the cd player. The rear calipers had to be replaced and the starter worked intermittently. Updated 09/12/08.

Pulls to the left, broken struts, broken brake calipers, rear turn signal broke! anytime I mess with tires or brakes the car pulls more and more to the left, haven't had steering checked but its driving me nuts. I thought it was from the front right strut being cracked and broken but the dealership says it shouldn't effect the pull to the left. Got new tires last week and new brakes, still pulls. Tail light quit working, changed bulbs then quit again. Car is driving me nuts, worried about driving it across country this summer! recall it soon - please!!!

I was having trouble with the brakes on my car. It is a 2005 Chevrolet Malibu. I took the car to midas and had the front brakes replaced in April. I didn't drive the car for about 2 weeks after that. When I got back into town I drove as usual. In the middle of June when I would step hard on the brakes the brake light would come on and the warning bell would go off. I took the car back to midas to have it checked on June 23rd. The brake fluid was less than half full. The mechanic checked the brakes. When he lifted the car up you could see where the brake fluid was leaking. He said the caliper on the right brake had blown the seal. He replaced the caliper. He had to get it from California. He said the caliper shouldn't have blown because the car was only over a year old.
