engine stalling. only goes up to 25 mph

I WAS DRIVING ALONG THE HIGHWAY WHEN I LOST ALOT OF POWER. I CAN PRESS THE GAS PEDAL AND IT IS LIKE ITS NOT GETTING GAS. I EVENTUALLY GOT IT HOME, DRIVING NO MORE THAN 30 MILES AN HOUR. I HAD TO BABY THE GAS PEDAL TO GET IT HOME. A LIGHT APPEARED SHAPED AS A CAR WITH A BIG WRENCH IN IT IN THE LEFT CORNER OF THE PANEL.
