Under 35,000km, had to replace the brakes and rotors. My girlfriend's Jetta is still driving with her original factory brakes (80,000km).

Brakes lasted me less than a year! I think there must be an issue with the stock calipers since I'm going through brake rotors like they are made from pine. Although I replaced both rotors and pads, the rotors were severely warped and there was almost no wear on the pads. I went back to normal solid disks from the previous slotted and drilled disks, just to see if the problems re-occurs again quickly. Saw a similar issue in our Jeep, had to ultimately replace the calipers to fix the problem. If it happens again, that will be my next step.

Malibu LTZ 3.8L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 60,000 miles

I had my car in several times with a steering issue - steering wheel sticks when turning at slow speeds, almost like the gears are clogged or worn - but the dealer twice said it was an issue with the brakes so they turned the rotors. Neither time did it fix the steering issue. But within a year the rotors became warped so I replaced rotors and pads with slotted and drilled rotors and ceramic pads.

Was sincerely surprised and worried that the Right front hub needed replacement and the front pads were less than 20%.
