Malibu LTZ

  • Automatic transmission
  • 36,000 miles

I bought my 2010 Chevy Malibu with 29,000 miles. I love this car.The service traction and service esc light came on. We took it back to the dealer and the said the switch was bad and needed to be replaced. They had to order one but they gave us a loaner car. After a week we picked the car up on a Wed. and by Fri am the light was back on. I have read several other complaints and I am starting to worry. I think we should just get rid of this car because it doesn't seem like there is a positive solution to this problem.

Update from May 23, 2016: On 5/23/2016 I finally got my car back. The dealer that I bought the car from sent it out to general motors to be repaired because they could not fix it there.GM replaced a brake pedal sensor, clip, retainer and a body control module and also repaired some wiring the was involved with a recall. Total price $ 808.92.Thank god it was under warranty. They drove it 4 miles and swear that it is fixed and I won't have any other problems. I am having a hard time believing that but I will got with it till the light comes on again. This time I won't be so nice and I will hire an attorney.

Malibu LT

  • Manual transmission
  • 89,000 miles

Bought my Malibu last year and I've had nothing but problems. I've put more money into repairing the vehicle that what it's worth! When I first got the car around 86k miles the service ESC light came on. The first time this happened I was leaving a gas station, there was no power steering. I waited a while, restarted the vehicle and it was fine. Another time I was leaving the store and the steering went out again as I was driving. This then began to happen more frequently. To the point where it never went off and I never had power steering. The steering wheel would shake uncontrollably. Eventually I cane to the conclusion to shake the steering wheel just before starting the car this helped for a short time. Finally was able to have the entire steering column replaced. Which ran me about $700. Which I still don't understand for a 2010 vehicle! !

Malibu LS 2.4L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 125,000 miles

I've seen others complain about this but no one has an answer. The ESC, Brake, Traction Control, and Engine lights go on and off intermittently. The cruise control doesn't work and the seat belt bells go off occasionally even if I'm buckled up. All these issues appeared at once and appear to be connected. I've brought my car in for 2 recalls, but the dealer said my issue isn't related to them. The dealer doesn't know what the problem is.

it's pretty bad that the dealer want to rip u off and pay to have it checked when they should check it and locate the problem if it's not covered under warranty. it's just another way to take your money. calling dealer to see if it's under warranty

Malibu LT2 I4

  • Automatic transmission
  • 46,000 miles

"SERVICE ESC" dash light comes on along with "SERVICE TRACTION" light intermittently. Cruise control will not stay on. Brake lights stay on. All of these issues appear to be tied together. Very dangerous when brake lights stay on without applying the brake, as anyone behind me does not know when I actually apply them. Very surprised there has not been a recall on this yet. There is one for the 2013 Cadillac with identical description but not 2010 Malibu.

Brought to the dealer and he informed me the entire steering column needs to be replaced to the tune of $675.00

Malibu 4 cyl

have had my 2010 chevy malibu to the dealer 6 times related to the check ESC/check traction light keeps coming on. Dealer states they have fixed it each time but light continues to come on. Dealer states they have to follow GM guidelines on the repair before they can replace "the whole system". How many trips to the dealer does it take to get to that point? I told them if they still had my old truck that I traded in on the Malibu I would take it back. This has been an ongoing nightmare. Getting tired of being nice about it. It's gonna get UGLY!!!
