Malibu LTZ

  • Automatic transmission
  • 75,000 miles

I was driving home from work and went to turn into the turn around to go to my house and the steering wheel just locked up. I couldn't turn the wheel or anything. I had to go into the grass area towards the ditch. My husband was in the yard and ran out and over to me and we had to get a tow truck to pick the car up because he couldn't get the wheel to turn to even get it into the driveway!!

Malibu LS 2.4L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 174,000 miles

Chevrolet Malibu 2010 4 cylinder electric power steering having intermittent power steering issues, both while stationary and moving. In other words, at times during startup it will be functional and sometimes non-functional same while moving. Supposedly this vehicle is not part of a power steering recall that was issued in 2014, although it appears to have the same mechanical issues. No correlation to speed steering or any other notable variable that I could see.

Malibu LT 2.4L/4 cyl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 178,000 miles

When vehicle was still under 100,000 miles, whilst driving on US 23/I-75, esc power steering appeared on the dashboard and the wheel locked. Luckily there was no vehicle behind me; I slowed down and powered the car off to the side of the highway. I then waited a while and restarted the vehicle with all the warnings now disappeared. I stopped at a GM agent and they said they could only help if they saw it on the dash (Just how?!). This problem occurred over 10 times between 2015 and 2018, and on that one cold January 2018 morning while driving to work, the wheel vibrated (twitched) uncontrollably and locked up on me and has never recovered.

The wheel has been twitching from the first experience, but its now worse and scary. I have been looking for recalls since 2015. Please fix this issue before we lose lives, if not yet.

Malibu LT 2.4L

  • Automatic transmission

Chevy needs to recall these cars as they are very damn unsafe to drive. Once you hit certain miles over 76.000 this sh*t become very dangerous. Purchased this car with no miles off of show floor in 2010 and was driving on a curvy road and almost went into the damn ditch without warning and the car pulled to the right and froze up. This is Chevy problem, not consumer and they sent this letter that stated it was a special coverage but when take to dealer you pay for diagnostic check, only to say you need steering column which is not covered.

They don't want to eat the cost for repair. Check online reports for one after another complaints and even 2 deaths. This is bullshit and consumers will pay with there liVes. Something needs to be done about this soon. What is going to take more damn deaths?

F*CK GM! WORST CAR ever made and they say it's the car of the year every time they make a damn Malibu. People beware, I have owned many cars and even has a 2001 and I have never seen this sh*t before, not even on an older car. Please fix your sh*t before someone else loses their life and you all get the biggest lawsuit ever.

Malibu LT V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 85,000 miles

The car quickly lost control via steering. I assumed that the problem was power steering took it to get fixed at a Chevy dealership to find out after several different quotes and days of looking (and missed work) that the problem was the steering column witch had to be replaced.

This car has had many problems but this is the latest. It has been parked for the last month while I try to find someone to fix it. It is hard for me to believe that a car like this would have a broken steering column.
