when you driving the steeling wheel just lockup you cant turn the car left or right. you has to turn the car off and start it back up than the car will start back turning. but if a car coming toward you or a small child going acrose the street if you try to turn away keep from hitting them but your power steeling lock up. that somethings you don't want to think about. you don't know when it going to do it it just pop up. I think GM could have find a better way to do the power steering system because this one can call death in this year Malibu and newer cars

When you first crank the car and backed up it would be hard to steer, as if the power steering was locked up. After you turned it off and back on it would clear. However, yesterday it started with some play in the steering and seemed like I lost control for a brief couple of seconds. It was really frightening.

After I got home today my daughter needed to run her brother to a friend's house about 2 miles away. When she backed up it was hard to turn at first she said, but cleared right away. After she stopped at the stop sign about 200 yards from where she started it happened. She pressed the gas to go on and she could not steer the car, and I do not mean it was hard to steer, the steering wheel would just spin. It would not turn the wheels at all. I am so thankful it happened on a neighborhood street and not in traffic as she would not have been able to control where it went.

This is ridiculous that this type thing happens and that GM is having so many issues with their vehicles. I sold my Ford to buy a Chevy and now I am not so sure I made the right decision. Unfortunately for us we got no warnings like others seem to offer in the comments. It was not until we could not steer it anymore when we got the errors "power steering malfunction, service ESC", "Air Bag Maint". I really pray and wish that GM will take care of these issues.
