steering wheel is disentigrating

Until now, I have never owned a car where the steering wheel just started to slowly disintegrate. Maybe I have highly acidic hands, I don't know, but this is not acceptable. I wish I could get better pictures to show the damage. It's not just the outer cover, the foam is falling apart underneath as well. I honestly believe if I used this wheel for another 3 or 4 years, it would be all the way down to the metal. While I haven't read about too many people having this problem, I have seen other Chevy Malibu's with the same nasty looking steering wheels. Fortunately, there is no shortage of steering wheels on sites like Ebay. I happened to get my hands on a brand new OEM leather wrapped wheel. It cost me $130.00 which stinks, but at least it looks good.
