Malibu LT

  • Automatic transmission

The entire dash goes black, sometimes it comes back on some times it does not. When it goes out before I turn the vehicle off, I have to have the car jumped before it will crank again. My speed odometer stops working.

Malibu 2LZ 2.0lturbo Dohc 4 cyl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 55,833 miles

My first problem happened when I used my turn signal the radio went off and the screen went black. Only for 3-4 seconds, I thought wow that was weird. About 5 minutes later I was parking the car. I put it into park the radio went off and the screen went black, the steering turned and locked.

That freaked my out enough to have it towed in. I didn't dare drive the car. Funny thing is my 2013 Malibu was supposed to be used that day to go visit our daughter. My husband's 2003 Saab was our means of transportation because the dealership would not allow me to have a loaner. (This was on a Friday)

They diagnosed it as a "Shorted wire under the passenger seat" I was told these wires had chaffed and they repaired the wiring and wrapped them. And that these wires control everything from radio to steering, to even airbags. I was told the good news is my bill is only $55.45 after going all weekend with no car, and a ride to the dealership to get my car after 3 phone calls and 45 mins late rom my confirmed time. Berger Chevy on 28th Street, Grand Rapids, MI.

3 days later.... AFTER my car was FIXED. Radio went out again.
