poor gas mileage poor gas mileage

I top the gas tank and reset my tripometer, i drive 200 miles and the car is almost on empty, so i got and top it off again. Did the math for true mpg, i added 13.5 gallons and only got 211 of driving miles out of it (including highway miles) 211/13.5=15.6mpg that is way below advertised (Ad: 25city/36hwy approx 29mpg combines. I took it to the dealer Ron Westphal Chevorlet to get checked out, all they did was check for DTC's and looked at the avg mpg displayed, which by the way is obviously wrong. I've reset the tripometer couple time already when i top off and im still averaging 15mpg

I need help asap dont know who else to contact about this issue, my car is a Certified Pre-Owned car, and warranty is not going to last much longer

Malibu LTZ 2.5L I4

  • Automatic transmission
  • 17,000 miles

My 2014 Malibu is rated at 36 MPG Hwy and 25 City. I have tried everyting to improve my economy and I can't get better than 30 MPG Hwy on average. I drive a 4 lane divided highway about 60 percent of the miles I drive on most tanks and I get about 23-24 MPG consistently. This is not acceptable.

I have taken it to the dealer and they find nothing. I have been talking to Chevrolet about my options and they just said sorry for your luck but we won't do anything to help you. The worst part is they said compensation is available if they could find the problem but since they can't find it they won't do anything.

poor gas mileage

One of the main criteria for the purchase of our Malibu was the advertised EPA mileage stats on the dealers sticker, however the big disappointment has been the 20 - 25% poorer fuel mpg performance that we have received, I have taken it to the Chevy dealer and they confirm it falls within GM mileage parameters and there is nothing that can be done... This I find unsatisfactory and bordering on false advertising by GM as it is the manufacturer that gives the EPA each car models mileage numbers as a selling point, the EPA has only the ability to test 10 -15% of all new model cars manufactured each year.
