Malibu LS 1.5L I4t

  • Automatic transmission

While driving the car, you would come up to a slow down. When transitioning from braking to accelerating, the engine would rev up to 5000rpm. The car then would not accelerate for some time. Once it did, the car would jump. After this has several times brought it to the dealership. The first time they had, they could not duplicate the issues for a few days. For car acted fine for a few days. Then it started up again. I brought it back to the dealership, this time with a video and photos.

They where unable to duplicate the issue. They did find an issue with the shifter. They replaced the shifter, and we have not had the issue since.

Update from Mar 26, 2019: This has now happened 3 times, i have brought it to the dealership on this matter. The first time, they could not duplicate it. On the drive home it happened, and brought it back with a video.

Update from Mar 26, 2019: While driving home from work, the engine light came on dashboard which reads “Engine Power Reduced”. Upon seeing this message, the car is forcibly slowed to a speed other than the driver’s cruising speed and is prevented from going above a certain MPH. I brought the car to the deanship. They had it for 5-6 weeks. During this time, they informed me it was the gear knob.

Update from Mar 26, 2019: Dashboard “Engine Power Reduced”. Upon seeing this message, the car is forcibly slowed to a speed other than the driver’s cruising speed and is prevented from going above a certain MPH. Deanship had the car for 4-6 weeks, and replaced the accelerator pedal.

Update from Mar 26, 2019: A loss of engine power then sometimes, high revs. The dealership then worked on the ECM.
