Took it to one mechanic who wanted to replace turn signal controls in steering column at around $500. I chose to live with the problem because it's such a relief when it finally stops clicking. If anyone has a cheaper solution I'd love to hear it. I don't understand the one about spinning the yoke in a towel.

Bought car, used, about a month ago and when test drove, no problems. Next day, clicking noise started in dash. It would click sporadically, and stop when turn signals on. Took to mechanic who tried the "cleaning the grease" trick, but didn't work. Took back to mechanic and they found two power sources in the dash that feed the turn signals. They tested both and found one was bad, so they replaced it. Have had it back for a week now with no more clicking!!!

Take the yoke out, put it in a large towel with the levers facing UP and spin it like you're going to throw it a mile--BUT DON'T THROW IT!! All the grease will move away from the contacts. I did that and put mine back in and have had no problem since.

Earlier this year, i started hearing the turn signal clicking while the signal is not being used. Upon using my turn signal, it works fine and keeps a steady pattern of clicks. But after the lever resets back to off after turning the car or turning the signal off, my car keeps clicking as if the turn signal is still on. It's no longer a steady pattern but rather an erratic nervous tick of a noise. There's no pattern to it and it always happens right after i use my turn signal, although it will start acting up even if i haven't used the signal in a while and its been silent for miles. The lighted arrows don't blink when this happens. It's the noise by itself in a spontaneous irregular fashion. I checked the fuses and they're fine. The signal lights in front and back work correctly. My hazards work correctly. I can't figure this problem out and i want to fix it without paying alot of money. I need to fix it soon because i'm taking a 200 mile road trip soon and i don't think we can stand to listen to that noise the whole way there.
