Monte Carlo Ss Supercharged Intimidator

  • Automatic transmission
  • 30,000 miles

My speedometer on my 2004 Chevrolet Monte Carlo has pegged out and doesn't move. I'm also starting to experience electrical issues. I'm not sure if they are connected or not. Apparently Chevy has had issues with speedometeres in other vehicles and has done a recall on those models but not the Monte Carlo. Why would they not include my car if it is the exact same issues?? That doesn't seem fair to include some models, but not all, even when its the same problem...

Monte Carlo LS 3.4L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 57,000 miles

The gauge cluster needle has gone out in my car and it is going to cost me $500.00 dealer ship price and $604.00-Cedar Hill Auto. Also the inconvience of being without my car for 2 days. I work on the Navy Base so I need my car.

Monte Carlo LS 3.4L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 80,000 miles

I bought the car used. After owning it for a year, the speedometer would get stuck saying that I was going over 120 mph even when stopped. I could get it back to zero by clicking the key on and off numerous times which reset it. Unfortunately after a period of time this stopped and it now sometimes works and sometimes it doesn't. I was told that its the internal parts of the speedometer. It is my understanding that this is the same part that GM replaced under a voluntary replacement program on most of their 2004-2006 GM trucks.

Monte Carlo SS Supercharged 3.2L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 30,646 miles

I can't believe that a car with only 30000 miles could have speedometer problems.

I was told this problem has a recall on 2003 & 2004 Chevrolet trucks, but not for cars.

I was told that the whole speedometer cluster would have to be replaced and it would cost between $450-$600.
