Silverado 1500 LS V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 115,000 miles

Over the past year 3 buttons at a time have gone out on our factory installed radio. Now at night when we drive the only light on the entire radio is the clock. This is very annoying and dangerous when driving and trying to change the station or CD! I heard the dealer must remove the dash and keep the truck while the dash is sent off for repairs. Give me a break!

Silverado LX 4.8L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 110,000 miles

My radio that came in my 2000 Silverado did not have lights. I checked ebay for replacement; too much money replaced with a pioneer. Works fine now!

Silverado LT Z71 1500 5.3L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 105,000 miles

The 1 and 4, and 3, and 6 lights on the radio went out and don't know how to fix. I talked to a guy who has a 2001 silverado and his lights are doing the same thing. He also said that it can only be fixed by taking it to a dealership and getting a whole new dash put on, which I think is absolutely insane. I want to know why the lights are not connected to a fuse.

Silverado LS 4.8L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 50,000 miles

The lights on the climate control started to fail at around 40,000 miles. They are not replaceable, at least not through GM. When out, it is impossible to set the controls without turning on the overhead light, which is dangerous at night. There are ways to wire LED lights as replacements, but it is difficult and time consuming to do so.
