Silverado LT 5.3L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 95,000 miles

I recently changed my oil at 104,321. I am only at 106,056 mile right now. About 1500 miles on an oil change and I had to add 1 3/4 quarts of oil. No signs of visible leakage. No smoking. Where is the oil going. This is crazy. I have had my local automotive repair shop look at it and they are stunned.

Silverado LT 4.3L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 55,000 miles

found oil leaking from what looks like the front crankshaft seal, or some kind of seal housing, dripping out below, the main sheave, down onto the front of the oil pan

Silverado 8.1L V8

  • Manual transmission
  • 54,254 miles

We bought a Chevy 2500HD 8.1L with 54,000 miles on it. We used a quart of oil in the first thousand miles, but then used a quart of oil within the next 500 miles. We are doing an oil consumption test with the dealership but every time that we go to the city we use over a hundred dollars in gas. It sounds like to me that we bought a LEMON and that we can not do a thing about it.
