i still cant believe it that at 112000km the cylinder heads will crack. what kind of engine is GM building made out of plastic. i have been driving GM for over 30 years and i always believed in them but no more. i spent $50000.00 on this truck and took good care of it and look what i end up with. my next truck it will be a toyota. thank you

This is mostly copied from another complaint to illustrate the same exact problem..."I Heard a knocking sound when started and stopped after a few minutes of warming up. ...I was driving and engine started to overheat stopped and checked coolant was low saw no leaks. I took to radiator shop replaced gaskets. about a week later was filling up with gas turned ignition on "CHECK ENGINE OIL LEVEL" warning came on checked with dipstick barely registered on dipstick add a quart took back to quick lube where oil was changed a month earlier they found no leaks...I started doing research online and found others having same problem". This problem is not uncommon, faulty, porous heads of type "Gaskel" I believe. Waiting for full quote, but labor alone estimated at $1650 (~ 2 days, really?!). Appears to be a know GM issue...sigh.
