Silverado Extend Cab V8

Can not switch in to 4WD. When I talked to the dealer I was told parts and labor would be over $1000.00. 4WD is the reason I bought this truck and not a Prius. The dealer informed me that this is a common problem

HAD THE SAME PROBLEM AS OTHER FOLKS WITH 4X4 SWITCH NOT WORKING!!

SERVICE FOUR WHEEL DRIVE LIGHT CAME ON LAST MONTH AND I IGNORED IT AND NOW I CANT SWITCH INTO FOUR WHEEL DRIVE OR TWO WHEEL DRIVE!!
