Silverado LS 5.3L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 60,000 miles

This is my 5th Chevy truck and my first light duty. I am a Chevy man and up to this point I have really loved my trucks. Now I am completely disappointed in the condition of this truck and the poor workmanship/parts - the sound system (most speakers have quit working), brakes (poor stopping/locking up), suspension (rides like a tank), transmission (slipping at around 60,000 miles) and headliner (bowing down). My main concern is the transmission of course and I don't have the funds to deal with it right now - trying to take care of a family and expecting a vehicle that cost this much to last for at least 200k miles. I am looking for advise and maybe a new line of truck! Chevy is really hurting their name by allowing this products on the streets.

Silverado 2500 HD 6.0L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 80,000 miles

I have been a loyal chevy customer for over 20 years. I've owned 30 vehicles...all chevys.Three years ago i decided to buy a new chevy. My first NEW truck ever. I made sure to take excellent care of it. It turns out the torque converter pump failed and the torque converter. After taking it to the dealer they said it was a part failure and had nothing to do with me. So when they said $3422.57 I just about crapped my pants. I called chevy thinking because it was no fault of mine, but a defective part, they had to something right? No nothing.. a $2,000.00 twords a new vehicle.. Are you kidding i just went broke paying to get a new truck fix it.I think I hate chevy. I will never buy another one again. I talked to 7 different people at chevy and not one call was taken in america. I am so sick of our jobs being outsourced to india or wherever and to know chevy, an american icon, doesn't even have the balls to save america by trying to keep jobs here? Why can't an american product be built in america by americans.? To save a few dollars, well they just lost a few, because from now til I die I will never stop telling people to not buy chevy.I SAY F*CK CHEVY.

Silverado WT 5.3L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 7,700 miles

Transmission sometimes gets stuck in 4th gear. About once every 3 weeks I will stop and when I take off again it is still in 4th and will barely go. I manually downshift into 1st gear but it will only go down into second. Once I am up to speed I shift back into drive. I can put it on the floor and it won't downshift. I have taken it in several times but there are no transmission codes and every time I shut the engine off it resets itself and is good for another 2 or 3 weeks. It always happens at on weekends, when I'm out of town, or after business hours. My dealership has replaced shift solenoids and it is still the same. It is like chasing a ghost. I once left it at the dealership for a month waiting for it to do its thing and it never would. I had it back a week and it did it but it was after hours and reset itself the next time I started it.

Silverado C1500 Z71 V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 20,000 miles

Should a brand new vehicle that I've only been driving for a year need a new transmission with less than 20K miles? I don't think so. We have only towed a trailer twice and now we are afraid to.

Silverado LT3 5.3L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 12,000 miles

transmission slips at take off from stop lights and goes into neutral while shifter is still in drive (truck in motion), remedy is to force shifter into park then back into drive. this causes a power surge on the instrument panel.
