Silverado V8

  • Automatic transmission

Took Silverado to local Chevrolet Dealer to have repaired. Was told by salesman it would cost $124.00 just to find the problem. Had no idea how much would end up costing; so decided to try other sources. I have yet to have this repaired.

This is the second and last GM lemon I will ever buy. GM can kiss my ass and tell me it is vasoline. No wonder GM employees are driving foreign cars and trucks. If I could afford I would buy another brand tomorrow.

Dealer said lots of water in speaker-door area caused speaker failure. Had speakers replaced at store that sold car audio because dealer replacement cost was insane. Replaced with pioneer speakers and sound quality much better at high levels (less distortion). Do not try to replace on your own. Speaker is part of door panel and you must cut out or replace whole piece with GM parts. Car audio store said they replace a lot of GM speakers and said speaker quality was crap.

Silverado LT 5.3L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 26,719 miles

Speakers starting cutting in and out and eventually none of them worked... removed each speaker and checked with an ohmmeter and discovered that all were reading infinity resistance [open circuit]

4 blown speakers ?? c'mon GM

found out from research online that this is a common problem for this make, model and year... replaced with after-market speakers, amp and sub... didn't need to go that far, but love the sound quality now...

if the speakers in your truck stop working DO NOT REPLACE WITH GM SPEAKERS, they are garbage

decent speakers start at $100 a pair... [this is actually less than GM wants for their trash]

now that i have the new stereo equipment i feel like i should have done this from day 1 as i am very impressed with the quality.... however, that doesn't change my opinion that is is totally unacceptable to sell a $50 000 truck with speakers that last only a few years

I'm extremely disappointed with the speaker system. I took it to my dealership last month. Without even an inspection of the problem the service rep told me the speakers were out. He give me a quote of 165.00 for each speaker. That's three times 165.00, or 495.00 dollars. Speakers just don't go out unless their defective. I'm 58yrs old and don't play my system loud at all, so what gives GM.
