The contact owns a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. While driving at 5 mph, the antilock brake system would activate independently. The failure occurred on numerous occasions. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the wheel speed sensor mounting surface needed to be cleaned and reinstalled. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 40,800.

Pulling into a parking spot at a slow rate of speed, the antilock brakes kicked in and I could not stop. I ended-up hitting the car in front of me causing 1,100 in damage to her car. This issue was supposed to be fixed in a recall in Oct 2005. The fix was a bandaid to the real problem. The ABS system is in these trucks are faulty. I was told the best thing to do is take the fuse out of the truck for the ABS.

He stated that his problem recurred when the brakes failed to work. The consumer stated in Dec 2005 the ABS was inspected and no problem was found. However, 2 years later the consumer began to experience brake problems. The dealer replaced the front wheel speed sensor at the consumers expense.
