Headrests are designed in a manner that your head is constantly pushed forward. This limits the driver being able to look up. It is very distracting to have to keep the seat belt loose in order to lean forward to get your head away from the headrest and look up at the traffic light or read signs on the highway. The remedy suggested by the dealership is to turn the headrest around backward, which leaves no support for your head in case of a rear end collision. Most owners I have talked to have simply removed the headrest to eliminate the problem. Others have reclined the seats back, which makes the driver vulnerable in a front end collision of sliding out underneath the seat belt under the dash. According to a General Motors representative this complaint has been occurring since the 2010 year model vehicles.

The front seat shifts around when cornering. The truck shifts constantly. It can never find the correct gear when it needs one. It continues even after they shimmed the front seat and shifting issues happen daily.

Headrest interferes causes my head to be pushed forward limiting my vision of the road. This is distracting during operation of the vehicle causing me to not be able to operate the vehicle in a safe manner. As I complained about this during purchase, the salesperson suggested that the headrest could be turned backwards, as done by other owners. As he tried this two items were apparent, first was no support for my head during a rear end crash, and second there was no position holds for raising or lowering the headrest. I have tried several times to work with GM for a headrest properly designed to support my head and be comfortable during vehicle operation. They have stated the headrest is working according to manufacturers design, and said I need to readjust the seat. To readjust the seat means to lean it backward. This action puts me at risk for a frontal crash because now the seat-belt and air bag become ineffective allowing me to slide out underneath both. Leaning back is not a comfortable position for me to operate the vehicle. Again we get into the distracted driving scenario. One GM person suggested I purchase an aftermarket headrest, but would not provide any information about approved aftermarket headrests. I asked him also about who would be having the liability in case of a crash. He refused to answer. One GM person also commented that this complaint was first documented during the 2010 year model light trucks. I am not looking forward to being involved with an incident because of the headrest.
