Stalling with no power transmission is putting me at risk since I first purchased this vehicle. Transmission needs to be replaced because of the defective drive shaft on all 2017 models. Really serious problem with a hard shift and multiple misfire. Just not sure what to do at this point. I-??m still paying for a truck that-??s not working.

The transmission locked up while driving such that we came to a stop in traffic with our newborn and toddler in the back seat and were required to call 9-1-1 because the vehicle was stuck in a gear and would not move while we were in the middle of a road in traffic. The problem has been confirmed by a dealer that the transmission blew due to metal getting into the transmission from failure of transmission pan. There was minimal warning before it happened. Approx. 8 months prior we had taken it in to dealer because the RPMs were running high and and we-??re told it was the 4 wheel drive causing it and approx. 2 weeks prior to this incident we heard grinding.

My transmission had to be replaced. It has always lunged, jerked, shake and make several unnatural noises. It would clunk into gear or not go in the proper gear. Several times it would not down shift and pushed me into the intersection either at a stop sign or red light. It felt as if I was hit from behind. One day it wouldn't go forward or reverse. It started working later and I took it to a dealership. There were no warning lights on so no codes were displayed. Suggested driving it as maybe it was just a glitch. The next day it wouldn't go over 40 mph and check engine light came on. I took it back to dealership. After they saw the codes, a mechanic looked at it and said there was metal in the transmission fluid and it smelled burnt. They said it needed a new transmission. I took it to a transmission shop and they confirmed it needed replaced. I had this done and it was over $5000. Transmission shop said they do 2-3 transmissions for Silverado a week, especially 2016 and 2017.

I was driving on along WT Harris highway and I attempted a turn along JW Clay Blvd. when my I pressed the gas and my truck didn't respond. I lost acceleration and it took a dangerous amount of time for me to cross the Highway. There aren't any warning lights or a check engine light on, but my transmission has begun to slip gears. This is after I had over 2k work done at the dealership for other problems I was having. Since no warning lights were visible it came as a complete shock in the middle of traffic when I could not accelerate. I have had my truck inspected by AAMCO Total Car Care and they have confirmed the problems and also the lack of warning lights or codes. After some research online I have found this issue common with Chevrolet Silverados manufactured between 2015-19.

Trailer Brake system message comes on multiple time. Have never pulled a trailer. Also when going 75mph on cruise control the "Stabilitrak" message comes up and kicks off my cruise and completely blanks out my screens. This is extremely bothersome and is DEFINITELY a safety issue with this wiring problem.

Torque converter failure, only 33k miles on vehicle. Had a load of dirt in bed of truck, while going home had too pull to side of road. Cause - truck shook violently almost lost control, thought someone hit me at first. While getting started again, noticed transmission was shifting funny but got home and symptoms went away for approx 2 months. April 16 while going for a drive on the highway, truck shifted down gears while cruise was set at 65mph the had trouble getting into gear so I pulled to the side and shut her down after I noticed a engine light come on. Luckily I had a scanner in my vehicle that I carry all the time and the code PO741 CAME UP. TORQUE converter and impellar, sensors, wiring issue. I called dealer immediately to set up apps and they came to same conclusion, TORQUE converter, impellar, trans lines.

My truck began with a notification that says "service stabilitrak", over the course of 48 hours it went from on hard bumps and just the notification, to now constantly turning on. There was a recall for this issue with the ABS, but I have to pay the dealer out of pocket. They are currently doing the diagnosis on it to see what the issue is. If the issue matches the same ABS issue as the recalls for 2014-2018 models on the Silverado, would there be a way to fight the charges? the warning notification and icon would light up when either stationary or moving at any speed. 48 hours ago it would only do it when turning at almost full rotation, or driving over some cracks on the road. Now it just does it randomly and very often to where the brakes would shake when applied. Power also goes down a bit, and the wheel would jerk. Pretty much exactly as how all the prior complaints about it before the recall when it reached youtube. It makes driving very dangerous as I can be turning, then the wheel would spring back into a different position. Before this notification, when I apply the brake it would be very smooth. Now because the truck thinks there's some kind of ABS issue, when I brake, it would shake the brake response (like old cars before ABS) and also make the vehicle very unsteady. I cannot brake on a straight line as it would sway the vehicle.

The contact owns a 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that the air conditioner blew hot air when turned on. The vehicle was taken to the Chevrolet of boise located at (12300 w fairview ave, boise, id 83713), where it was diagnosed that the condenser was cracked. The dealer stated that it was a recurring failure from 2015 and 2016 models. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and provided a case number. The dealer also stated that the forward drive engagement switch should not be left on auto, to avoid automatic switch from two to four drive. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 81,000.

The ABS system failed when braking on a snowy, icy, slippery road locking all four wheels causing the vehicle to skid out of control. The brake light and ABS light and tcs icon were displayed. The brakes had to be released to regain steering control and judicious use of manual braking eventually brought the vehicle to a stop. The ABS pump motor was noted running continuously even with the engine off. Onstar diagnostics indicated a traction control system error. This braking failure occurred in conditions that the ABS is specifically designed to prevent loss of control!

I've noticed since the first month of owner ship back in 2018, that something was wrong with my transmission. I own a 2017 Chevy Silverado with the 8 speed transmission. Not only had it been discouraging, it's disturbing, and possibly even unsafe. From 1st to 2nd gear there is a hard shift in the transmission. And the same problem is from 2nd to 1st gear. The vehicle makes a loud clunk and it jerks simultaneously. The fact I spent $50,000 on this truck brand new and have got nowhere with the problem is outrageous. I always believe it is a safety concern, because the vehicle will move it radically. When I brought it to my dealership they said it was 'left in 4 wheel drive' ridiculous lies. And if that was the case why did they 'update the transmission computer.' Regardless, all of these problems from GM have been swept under the rug. The problem has never stopped. I've gotten replies from service representatives at the dealership saying 'they all do that' or 'it's fine' so tired of getting nowhere. GM should be replacing every single 8 speed transmission. I am worried that my transmission will fail at any time. New vehicles should not drive like this.

A rough clunk noise occurs when trying to stop, and car actually revs to accelerate speed when applying breaking and trying to stop. (in. Motion) this is a dangerous issue. Transmission does not appear to smoothly enter into subsequent gears. A jerk occurs in between shifting of gears. (moving) I have been completely stopped on a flat street, and relax my foot off the break, and the car wants to leap jump forward. This is not safe. (stopped) there are several reports of this issue found in online forums from other owners with the same 2017 Chevy Silverado. Just purchased vehicle in November.

Our 2017 Silverado 1500 truck went into low power mode while driving on the interstate at 75 mph. It started to run really rough and all of a sudden all the lights were flashing on the dash and it lost power. The light on the dash was flashing low power mode. Couldn't get above 35 mph putting us in a very dangerous position with traffic flowing 70 mph + had to try to maneuver off the interstate. Turned it off to reset it and it drove normal but the check engine light was on. Took it to the dealer and they said they had to reprogram the ECM. I found several other instances of this problem being reported on GM and Chevrolet discussion forums.

I am requesting that dot NHTSA investigate the extreme wobble/vibration/shake on new 2017 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The vehicle was purchased new and driven under 55 mph for the first 500 miles. After the first 500 miles and beginning to drive highway speeds, between 60 - 75+ miles per hour, a wobble/vibration/shake began to occur. When the wobble/vibration/shake begins the driver feels that control of the vehicle is being lost and the driver must decrease the speed, which is able to be accomplished with both releasing foot off of the accelerator or lightly breaking, in order to regain control. The vehicle has been to the dealer for front left wheel replacement due to the inability of original tire to be balanced, the vehicle has field force balancing 3 times, and the left front axle boot has been replaced. After several attempts to correct the wobble/vibration/shake, the vehicle now has ~10,000 miles, the wobble/vibration/shake continues to occur at highway speeds.
