Silverado 1500 High Country 6.2L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 30,000 miles

I have made 3 separate visits to dealership . Have replaced torque converter, valve body and this last time on 08/04/2020 the dealership says I have no problem and this is just the way the transmission shifts. They also say they get 2 to 3 complainants a week. When I made to appointment last week a gentleman behind me made the same complaint. GM has a problem and they don't want to fix it.

Silverado 1500 Z71 5.3L

  • Automatic transmission

3rd gear shifts hard... down shift jerks can't drive over 35 mph. I'm now truckless for 1 plus weeks now, and, owning a construction company, it's almost half ass impossible to get some material to a job site.

The prognosis on getting the correct part has been anywhere from 2-6 weeks. So that would mean I am unable to use my vehicle for damn near 2 months. I'm still paying my monthly loan payments while I see my truck sit in the driveway because the part I need is in such high demand b/c Chevrolet thought it would be a great idea to change transmission from 2015-18... And now there has been many many issues with trannys thru our these years, but still no recall.

From my research this is a fairly common issue for Chevys, and needs to be addressed.

Silverado 1500 High Country 5.3L, V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 23,517 miles

The automatic transmission in the 2017 Chevrolet 1500 High Country continually jumps in and out of gear causing a snatching effect. I had it checked and the response was there was nothing found so it was due to living in the south and higher humidity. A follow up visit for a so-called factory repair included getting a transmission oil and filter change and updated software. As a result, now the vehicle snatches each time it changes gears. Sometimes the vehicle will lurch forward when stopping - as though it has gone into a lower gear but speeds up. Problems are worse when the vehicle is cold or on a colder day. This seems to be a common complaint for these trucks but Chevrolet dismisses the complaints. I am a lifelong Chevy owner but this experience has made me rethink this and i don't plan to buy another one. The transmission problem is severe and dangerous. It could easily cause an accident due to the jerking and lurching of the vehicle. The problem seems to be in the 8 speed automatic transmissions that are being used to reduce fuel consumption to meet federal guidelines.

85,000 miles. Had to have the transmission replaced. $3,850 repair. I owe it to the bad programming of the transmission out of the factory. All those hard shifts had to be a major cause.

Silverado 1500 LT 5.3L

  • Automatic transmission

I love my truck but it's been a nerve wracking and frustrating with the transmission issues. It randomly clunks in and out of gears pretty hard and it feels as if my truck had been hit hard from behind. Getting into a major intersection becomes somewhat challenging with the sluggish response plus the hard shifts in between gears that literally feels as if a drag type shift kit has been installed on my truck's transmission to take on the quarter mile drag-strip. My truck's been in and out of the Dealership several times trying to rectify the problem but it seems like GM has yet to find or come up with an actual fix or solution. Presently I been told by the GM customer service department that they will be contacting once they find a permanent fix. Makes me wonder if I will get that call closer to the expiration date of my truck's drivetrain warranty.

Silverado 1500 LTZ Z71 5.3L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 8 miles

My 2017 silverado 8 speed transmission bangs in and out of 2nd gear at slow speeds. Annoying as hell and the dealer said it is normal and there is nothing they can do. I mean it bangs at times. I can't believe that damage is not being done and nobody would buy this thing from me when they feel and hear that.

CHEVY FIX THE DAMN PROBLEM AS MANY PEOPLE HAVE THIS ISSUE!

Silverado 1500 LTZ 5.3L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 6,414 miles

In the first couple thousand miles I noticed my 2017 Silverado LTZ with 8 speed transmission had a harsh 1-2, 2-1 shift. I thought maybe it would go away after the transmission was broken in, so I waited to take it in until my first oil change was due to complain about it. The dealership performed a TSB for relearning shift points. So I picked up my truck and as I drove away it shifted hard, I got the service advisor and showed him the hard shift. His comment was oh that shifts harder then most of the trucks. He was trying to tell me all of the 8-speeds transmissions shift hard. But I wasn't about to let it go, so he said they would take another look at it. The technician put in a TAC case to get help from the factory and it was determined that it needed a valve body. The valve body was replaced and the transmission shifted better than before, but the problem isn't completely gone. It still shifts hard just not as often as it used to.
