I purchased a "new" 2005 Chevy Silverado 2500 utility bed work truck...the dealership ripped me off with the trade in;refused to apply the cash back and down payment assistance GM was offering-and when I got the truck home, saw the inside of toolboxes were rusted...the heater blew, the airconditioning quit working, stereo/cd player quit, as well...the dealer refused to fix the rust;destroyed the pics and service report regarding the trust. The oil cap blows off...it's been replaced several times- and in Jan 2009, truck kept overheating & brake lights went out...dealer could not find source of engine leak;and failed to fix brake lights, .they state it's not their problem. The truck has 33,000 miles on it-I even purchased an extended warranty-but no one can or will fix it.filed 2nd complaint with GM-they state the service department never documented the engine leak/overheating/brake problem !I took the truck back to dealer day after signed the contract-tried to get it resolved-they hid from me!!!!and sent my trade in to auction...they also failed to inform me of my 3 day right to rescind'so I canceled the loan on Jan.2009-under the tila law. They are refusing to acknowledge my rights as a consumer;I will not pay 23,000 for a truck that is inoperable...help!

The contact owns a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado 2500. The contact stated that the heater would not activate. The dealer stated that numerous Silverado were experiencing the same failures. The contact was instructed to remove the heating panel and he found burned and melted wires near the resistor plug. The dealer advised him to purchase the repair kit offered to those who were experiencing the same failures. The repairs would cost over $114. The failure and current mileages were less than 43,000. (1) it was 22 degrees outside and I went to turn on my heater while pulling away from the house. There was heat coming out but it was not blowing and the heaters control adjustment knobs were not clicking into place. No air was blowing from the front panels or to any panels. I couldn't even get the defroster to operate. I checked all the fuses as per the vehicle operators manual and all fuses were fine. On Friday, 04jan08 I called turan foley Chevrolet-Cadillac-Buick dealership where I had bought the truck back in January of 2005. I spoke to the service department supervisor and explained the problem. He advised me that it was my heaters resistor box and that it had melted. He also advised that he had seen at least 7 trucks that week alone for the same problem and that every 2-3 out of every 10 trucks has been having this problem but that no recall has been placed for this part yet. (2) the resistor box and the pigtail connector had both melted. I left my house in Texas and returned to Mississippi on almost a 700 mile trip w/O any heat in low 20 temperatures. (3) the dealerships service department replaced the malfunctioned parts with: Connector part number15862656 for $95 and the resistor part number 89019088 for $50.62 and then charged me $120 for labor on 1-1/2 hours labor costing me $289.56. My warranty did not cover it because it expired 2,656 miles after my warranty of 36,000 miles at 39,456. I contacted the Chevrolet recall center and inquired as to if a recall had been issued and they advised not at this time. If you check the internet though and talk to the service departments on this problem, you will see and hear that this is a continuing issue.
