The contact stated that the vehicle was previously repaired four times, but the failure recurred. The contact referenced NHTSA campaign number: 14V614000 (electrical system). The contact owns a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado 2500. While driving 50 mph, "service trailer brake system" was displayed across the message board and the trailer brakes disengaged. The failure recurred on numerous occasions. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the control module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact was aware of NHTSA campaign number: 14V614000 (electrical system), but the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 86,000.
