The contact owns a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado. The contact stated that last week while he was driving 45 mph he applied the brakes and the ABS malfunctioned. The brakes locked and caused him to continue driving through an intersection. A local mechanic replaced the brakes which did not solve the problem. The vehicle was at the dealership when the complaint was filed. The technician stated that two speed sensors caused the failure to occur. The vehicle will be repaired at the owners expense. The failure mileage was approximately 49,000. The current mileage was approximately 49,500.

The contact owns a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado. When the contact attempted to brake at a low speed the ABS system activated causing the vehicle to stop. The vehicle has not been diagnosed by the dealer and there were no prior warnings. The current and failure mileages were 84120. Updated 01/05/10 the consumer stated the ABS should not have activated on dry pay pavement under normal speed conditions. The failure was due to the ABS sensor being moved out of alignment due to corrosion. Updated 01/07/10.

The contact owns a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado. While driving 20 mph, the ABS failed to stop the vehicle. The contact almost struck a child. After finally stopping the vehicle, he took it to the dealer and they stated that the brake sensors failed. The dealer installed a temporary sensor to make sure that would remedy the failure. The manufacturer stated that they were not responsible for the repairs. He found a recall for the failure, but it did not include his model year. The contact believes that the design was never changed and the newer models have also been affected by this defect. The vehicle has not yet been permanently repaired. The the consumer stated the ABS activated at a low speed and the pedal would go all the way to the floor. Updated 03/19/09

2005 Chevrolet crew cab 1/2 ton two wheel drive has had a vibration while driving and while braking since the first test drive. The salesman promised it was just the tires with flat spots and would go away. John keating Chevy. As changed the front rotors the back drums, two tires aligned the front end put in steering kit. The truck still has the vibration and now the front left and the rear brakes are locking up. If you brake hard the brakes skids on the left side. I have contacted customer service they will not return my calls. I was at the dealership on 2/21/06 I tried to talk the owner I left my name and I was there for 5 hours he never contacted me. I called him that night around 6:15 and spoke with him, he wants to ride in the truck, I called the next afternoon left my number and asked for appointment. I called again 2/23/06 around 2:00 again I left my number.

The contact owns a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado. While driving on a steep curve he had to panic brake to avoid going over an embankment. The brakes locked and would not allow the vehicle to slow down or stop. The vehicle hit the ground and proceeded to flip over. The vehicle is equipped with driver and passenger side air bags. Upon impact the front air bags did not deploy. The vehicle has not been inspected to determine why the brakes locked up or why the air bags did not deploy. He has not contacted the manufacturer or the service dealer.

The day the vehicle was purchased the consumer noticed that the check engine light on his 2005 Chevrolet Silverado had illuminated. The dealer reset the check engine light, however it illuminated again and the dealer stated it was a bad gas pressure sensor. 4 months after owning the vehicle the vehicle started jerking and the consumer was unable to pass other motorist on the highway. The consumer managed to get to his destination when all of a sudden all of the lights on the dashboard lit up and the vehicle cut off. The dealer informed the consumer the ABS sensor and crank positioning sensor were bad.
