2007 Chevrolet K3500 duramax power problem:on two occasions I have had a near total loss of power problem with my 2007 K3500 duramax. Both occurrences were identical. There was a loss of power that severely limited acceleration and top speed. The details of the conditions are as follows: "RPM will not go above 2200rpm "max speed 49 mph (truck unloaded - it takes about 1 - 1 1/2 miles to get some speed back following event) "all gauges indicate normal operating ranges ?engine temp, transmission temp, oil pressure normal ?the only way to increase speed is to come up to 2200 RPM, let off the accelerator to cause transmission to shift and then repeat the process ?service engine light came on ?low engine power readout on history: First occurrence: ?5/9/2008, odometer 7,779 miles, desert sun of roswell nm Chevrolet 505 625-1000, invoice ctcs148596 ?installed new calibration update for P0402 second occurrence: ?12/29/2009, odometer 24,339 miles, independence Chevrolet of bloomsburg pa 570 784-2720, invoice cvcs300288 ?advised by factory to update PCM calibrations "note, on 10/26/2009 truck was inspected for updates at my request and my cost. The system was scanned, hooked to GM net and no updates were found. Conclusions: There seems to be an as built problem with the turbo charger, computer controls and sensors for this truck. I highly suspect that GM is aware of the problem and the repair needed although no recall has been issued to date. This problem may be deemed to expensive to repair under warranty by GM. My suspicion is based on the fact that GM knows that if they reload the PCM calibration data the system will somehow reset itself and work again for a while. Danger: A near total loss of power on the road is serious. Speed goes to 20-30 mph quickly. This is essentially a no fuel event. If the truck is loaded or pulling a trailer the event becomes more dramatic and unsafe. Please help!
