While my carwas just sitting at a light and the moment I tried to pull off the car stalled as if it was not receiving any gas. It putted and then it stop in the middle of the street. While the car behind me was clearly not paying any attention I was rear-ended. The dealership stated it was due to my fuel pump. I just purchased my 2000 Chevy Suburban in Oct. 2006. My question to is how long does the recall last?

2000 Chevrolet Suburban. Truck refused to start-would finally start, then stall immediately. Took several tries to get truck running. Took to dealer-$800 to install new fuel pump. 2 weeks later, same problem. Back to dealer, new fuel filter (second in two months) and fuel injection cleaning. I researched internet and found that there is a problem with fuel pump. Confronted dealership who then admitted that there is a problem with fuel pump--and that they have to replace 2 - 3 per week.

Fuel leak with full tank on level ground. Appears similar to defect summary EA04026. Vehicle had had fuel sensor replaced 06/2002 at 36000 miles for sporadic fuel gage / temp gage failures. Expect this is caused by the melted electrical terminals at pump module. Possibly related to sensor replacement. Does not leak on level after driving 10 miles after fillup, but will leak if pointed down hill - very noticeable fuel leak. Certainly a fire hazard. Have talked with Chevrolet 1-800-222-1020. They acknowledge the "engineering analysis" but will not authorize footing the bill for repairs.

I have had problems since day one on this Suburban. Most recently the two above. I checked the warranty work that was done on my Suburban and it was over a page of claims. I just cannot remember the dates the items I checked occured. The fuel pump problem was long in the coming, they just didn't know what the problem was. I spent outside of warranty hundreds of dollars on the fuel system. This left us stranded 3 times! this last time cost me $765. Today, the ABS sytem died. They say it's going to cost me close to a $1000 to repair. I purchased the Suburban because it was safe to carry my wife and 7 kids. So far, we have been stuck on the road, lost vacation time and just can't feel safe anymore. Now I don't have brakes. Thanks for letting me vent. Kent dold
