problem #2

Suburban Z71

  • Automatic transmission
  • 65,000 miles

The seat heater comes on full whenever it likes. Sometimes comes on and off randomly. It may be fine all day one day then the next day it comes on over and over and over. It is really distracting to drive when your seat is heating up while its 90 degrees outside.

problem #1

Suburban Z-71 5.3L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 43,500 miles

EVERY TIME THE VEHICLE IS STARTED UP, THE DRIVER'S SEAT HEATER KICKS ON THE MAXIMUM HEAT SETTING BY ITSELF. THE CONTROL SWITCH WILL RESPOND TO RE-SETTING ATTEMPTS, BUT ONLY TEMPORARILY. AS SOON AS THE HEAT SETTING IS REDUCED OR TURNED OFF, THE SWITCH WILL KICK ITSELF BACK ON THE MAXMUM SETTING AGAIN. THIS BECOMES A CONSTANT BATTLE WITH THE SWITCH AND IS NOT ONLY ANNOYING BUT IS A DISTRACTION WHEN DRIVING AND HAS NEARLY CAUSED AN ACCIDENT ON MORE THAN ON OCCASSION. AT BEST, I MAY BE ABLE TO GET THE LOWEST HEAT SETTING TO REMAIN SET FOR AN EXTENDED TIME PERIOD. OTHERWISE, I AM CONTINUOUSLY RE-SETTING THE CONTROL SWITCH. THIS AUTOMATIC SEAT HEAT ISN'T SO BAD IN COLD WEATHER, BUT IS A REAL PAIN IN THE SUMMER.

I HAVE TRIED RE-PROGRAMMING ALL THE START-UP SETTINGS FOR EACH DRIVER KEY BUT WITHOUT ANY SUCCESS. ALSO, THE CULPRIT SWITCH IS THE ONE THAT CONTROLS THE HEAT FOR BOTH THE BOTTOM AND THE BACK OF THE SEAT.
