Suburban LT 5.3L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 195,000 miles

I have taken this vehicle to the dealer numerous times for the misfire on the 6. Only to continue to be disappointed after spending thousands of dollars. Then the stability and traction control lights are on. I have replaced everything that came up in the codes and it still points back to the misfire on the 6. I have changed wires, plugs, coil pack, wheel sensors, Steering wheel position sensor, throttle, gas pedal sensor, injectors, rings, pistons, wires that lead to all the most important parts. The dealer does something each time to fix it just long enough for me to drive in less than 30 minutes. This issue is such a money absorber. The truck will run fine then it will start to jerk, burn so much gas, and the cruise control starts acting up, the lights in the dash starts going from bright to dim. It's just one problem right after the other. A recall needs to be put in place to fix this issue.

Suburban Z71 5.3L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 147,500 miles

I guess I have been lucky since this has happened at around 147K on mileage. I was hoping my 2007 Z71 was one of the lucky ones not having this problem. I have had oil consumption problems, approx. 1 quart every 2.5K miles. I brought this up to my Chevy dealer which would do all my oil changes and they shrugged it off as standard. Pisses me off that you know they knew what was going on.

I added the BG MOA treatment to the oil change and now realized that I missed the half credit program on there warranty because I started at 86K instead of 77K or so miles. And of course the dealership never explained the program to me or suggested to start it so I would be in the program.

My current problem is my Stabilitrak is off, Service Stabilitrak message with a flashing yellow check engine light. This has only occurred recently and only when I am driving up a steep grade in the foothills of the rockies. I didn't notice any loss of power and the system reset itself pretty quickly but long enough to freak out my passenger. After my trip I got the vehicle to an independent shop to check codes. The codes the tech pulled was misfire causing the Stabilitrak system to kick off. To fix the problem recommends replacing all the valve lifters. Approx. $4500 was the quote. Now is it worth fixing or to sell?

Suburban LT V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 97,589 miles

I have taken my Suburban to the Chevy dealer many of times for my oil problem. They keep telling me that my oil sensor is bad but they have replaced 4 times. It works for a little while then the oil pressure gauge drops, the oil pressure warning starts going off saying low oil pressure.

I'm burning oil but no oil leak. I check my oil after my oil change about 2/3 times a week, I have to add oil cause it's low. I'm fed up with this car, it's a great family car but this problem F#$% DRIVING ME CRAZY AND I AM SPENDING TOO MUCH MONEY TRYING TO FIND THE PROBLEM AND NOT EVEN CHEVY KNOWS HOW TO FIX IT. IF THIS F#$%*&^ ENGINE BLOWS I AM GETTING A LAWYER AND I AM GOING TO SUE.

gm seems to not know what is going on. the only way for the general public to digonose or repair is to replace parts and guess, or buy a $2500 teck 2 tool. sounds like a monoply to me. starting to cost too much to fix, might change brands

Suburban LT 5.3L

My 07 has had problems with traction control/ stabilitrak shutting off. Then came full electrical shut down followed by excessive oil consumption.major electrical problems. Passenger headlight burning out consistently. Peeling metallic trim on door handles. Leather on seats splitting. Electric windows working intermittently. Dash splitting spontaneously Behind airbag panel on passenger side. NONE of these problems have been fixed for more than 3 months @ a time. Watson Chevy in AZ has had numerous occasions to remedy this situation. They have nursed me out of my warranty by assuring me they "found the problem this time" with each fix. No such luck. Time for class action lawsuit if you are in AZ , and want to part of this pls contact me horsefeathersRD@gmail.com .

Suburban 5.3L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 70,000 miles

I have the same issues that everyone is complaining about. I have had it supposedly solved but the oil burning and stabilizer light come back and the dealership still can't seem to find any underlining issue with these vehicles.

I'm sorry to say I have two of the headaches which I knew were a problem and that GM is not recalling but it's gonna take someone dying or seriously injured for a recall to come into effect. It's to the point where I hate my trucks because of the bull I have been going thru with no common solution found by GM.

All I read about is the constant run around everyone gets. That is very bad business practice. I'm done with Chevrolet all together.

OKAY, I HAVE A 2007 SUBURBAN THAT WAS IN THE DEALERSHIP FEB 2012 FOR THE FIX OF THE OIL CONSUMPTION. WELL IT SEEMED TO HAVE TAKEN CARE OF THAT ISSUE, BUT I ASKED FOR A NEW ENGINE BACK THEN BECAUSE I WAS WORRIED OF THE DAMAGE TO THE REST OF THE ENGINE WHILE WE WERE DRIVING IT FOR 4 YEARS UNTIL THE BULLETIN WAS FINALLY ISSUED OF WHAT HAD TO BE DONE. SO ANY WAY THE DEALER TELLS ME NOT TO WORRY THAT IF I HAVE ANY OTHER ISSUES ARISE EVEN AFTER MY WARRANTY WHICH ENDED LAST AUGUST 2012, THAT GM WILL HONOR ANY INTERNAL WORK THAT MAY ARISE FOR 12,000 MILES OR 12 MONTHS, WELL I MADE IT 11 MONTHS AND THE LIFTERS ARE NOW SHOT, AND THEY TELL ME THEY GOT ME ON THE GM GOODWILL AND THAT NO MATTER THE COST I ONLY HAVE TO PAY $1,000.00 AND YET DID NOT HIT 12 MONTHS OR 12,000 MILES

AND I HAVE READ IN HERE OF CAMS GOING BAD AS WELL AND LIFTERS, SERIOUSLY. THERE IS NO WAY THAT MY ISSUES ARE THE SAME AS A LOT OF OTHERS AND IT BE NOT RELATED TO THE OIL CONSUMPTION PROBLEM. SO NOW MY TRUCK IS AT THE DEALERS GETTING NEW LIFTERS, I AM SURE SOON THE CAM WILL WIPE. AND IT WILL BE BACK IN THERE.

I PAID 60,000 DOLLARS FOR THIS TRUCK I STILL OWE ABOUT 20,000 DOLLARS. AND I HAD TO RENT A CAR THIS TIME AND FORK OUT $1,000 THIS IS TOTAL CRAP. I HAVE OWNED GM CARS SINCE I COULD DRIVE, I HAVE 2 NOW AND THIS IS HOW THEY TREAT A LOYAL CUSTOMER... WELL WAY TO GO GM FOR CAUSING ME TO LOSE FAITH AND TRUST IN YOUR CUSTOMER SERVICE AND YOUR PRODUCT. I AM SELLING MY 2010 CAMARO AND MY TRUCK AND I WILL GO BY A FORD MUSTANG AND A FORD EXCURSION OR SOMETHING.

I AM TRULY DISAPPOINTED AND SADDENED BY THIS. FINANCIALLY IT HAS HURT ME .

As I was driving into the dealership to have my engine looked at again (just had pistons and rings replaced which in turn caused a spark plug to get a hairline fracture and make my car shake and sputter), my stabalizer light went on. THis has happened several times before, I didn't know if it was worth taking it in for. Apparnlty, other cars have this problem.

The Truck is idling horrible, engine light is on , stabliltrac light is on, Trans shifts hard from 1st to 2nd gear. Car jumped forward when I started it back up, lost steering ! On top of that , I'm losing a quart of Oil every week! Having all the same problem as others on this site. I'm taking it to the dealer in a few days! I hope they actually fix it! I have read a number of complaints on the internet for this issue and I have not seen one fix! As an American car fan I'm very disappointed in GM. I replaced my 2003 Ford Sport trac with this Suburban and even with 212K miles on it, The sport trac has had little to no issues! Get with it GM its 2011...cars should run 100K without any problems and they definitely should not be losing Oil !

Same problem mmtcs light and stabilitrac light came on, and was on for 4 days till I was on the way to the dealer and they could only find an issue with the fuel....guess what, the next day it's still not fixed. It lurched forward on my wife today when she started it with my kids in it.

Here are all of our problems I guess.....(We bought it in Nov 2010 with 47k+/- miles)

Jan or Feb 2011--noticed the stereo quit intermittently, had the dealer look at it, they couldn't find anything.

Since March 2011--noticed burning a 1-2qts of oil between changes(and I use synthetic)--I thought it was the way I drive. No leaks or drips could be found.

June 2011-- AC quit working on a trip across the state, dealer fixed/replaced something only to have it happen again

Aug 19, 2011-- Stabillitrac/tcs/check engine light came on and went off intermittently for 4 days till I got it to dealer 8/23/2011 when the light turned off on the way there.(also noticed some hard shifting from 1st to 2nd in that 4 day time period). Dealer still couldn't find issue with AC, and charged me $350 for some fuel sensors and reprogramming).

Aug 26 2011--stabilitrac-tcs light-check engine light came on again with hard shifting still--called dealer at 4:30pm and left a message

Aug 29 2011--car felt like it lurched forward when starting it on my wife, 'felt like it didn't want to go'..'steering felt like it locked up' she said

Aug 29--vehicle is at dealer, service advisor wasn't interested in the forum on edmunds I told him about unless there was a solution, but I hadn't read it all yet...I WILL stand my ground on this issue, it has one week left of drive train warranty...

Update from Feb 15, 2012: I seem to be fixed/resolved for 6months or so now. After working with/fighting with the dealer and trying numerous things we replaced the fuel pump and I haven't had any problems since. Calling Chevy detroit and politely standing my ground really motivated the local dealership to urgency in every way. Stay firm, stay polite, and replace the fuel pump...they did it for me at no cost saving $600----Good Luck!

This has happened over and over. the stabilitrack light comes on, then I have to add oil , then it starts missing. my plugs are fouled and oil soaked. They repaired under extended warranty said my oil control rings were stuck in the pistons (they have done this before). My extended warranty is almost out, I think the engine is designed poorly and they are milking me out of my warranty period. this car has had major problems . the transmission went out before we even hit 50,000. we have had multiple electrical problems as well. so disappointed in this vehicle, don't know what to do about it but I feel like I got ripped off!

We were on a trip and on the way home all our electronics go crazy. stabilitrack light comes on, then oil, check engine light comes on. we lose ac (it was summer in ca), then lose stereo, cant roll windows down, doorlock/stereo not working. car begins to idle rough/ barely have any power, thinking we wont make it onto road shoulder. finally go to pep boys where they say they will not release my car because throttle is stuck (electrical problem) and unsafe to drive. have to get a hotel and stay until dealership is open( no one else has parts to fix problem). we spend the night. they replace some electrical relay box and tune the car up. runs for several months and then the problem starts again...!!!!
