The dash is cracking in multiple locations which if the airbags were to deploy could send shards of plastic flying through the passenger compartment creating a safety hazard. This has been occurring for some time but is continuing to get worse, and we have recently noticed that it has broken all the way across one of the dash panels. I have looked online and this appears to be a issue with many Chevrolet vehicles.

Takata recall when I first received the notice about the recall in July 2016 I contacted jerry Chevrolet about replacing the air bags and was told the parts were on back order and not available at this time and I would be contacted when they did become available and then told when to bring it in for repair. I waited and waited. I contacted them again in 2017 and was told the same thing. I also contacted a different dealership and was told the same thing. It has been 2 years now and this is not acceptable. I am scared about driving my car and am upset that when GM had another recall on my husbands cobalt that they set a deadline and you had to get your car in to be repaired before that deadline. At that time our daughter was going thru multiple dr. Appointments and surgeries and we could not meet that deadline. We had to pay for this recall out of our own pocket. What gives them a right to set a deadline on any recall when I have been waiting 3 years on this recall! not fair at all! a recall is not an owners fault.

2010 Chevrolet Suburban my dash board inexplicably cracked in several places some around the air bag. After researching, I found thousands have the same problem and are concerned the cheap plastic dash could turn to shrapnel in an accident. I have read people spend hundreds, sometimes thousands to fix the damage only for it to happen again. GM needs to be held responsible for this poor and cheap design flaw. No one deserves to spend $40K on a vehicle that literally cracks apart in a short time of ownership. If GM really stands behind the quality of their products, then they need to step up and take care of their customers. And while I'm at it all vehicle manufacturers need to stop making such cheap unsafe piece of craps that are constantly being recalled for some reason or another. NHTSA needs to hold these manufacturers responsible for not only ripping us all off, but also producing such unsafe vehicles. Stand up and grow a backbone NHTSA!

I am having a big issue with cracks on my dash board- I have a 2010 Suburban and the cracks started in 2013 and have now grown in size to where a portion of my dash has caved in above the instrument cluster as well as a crack now reaching to the passenger air bag. I have read of other people having the same cracking issue in the same locations on the dash. Is there a fix for this? I'm concerned of issues if there is a collision or the air bag deploys.

Takata recall - currently there is no "fix" for the airbag. That is a huge safety concern for me and my passengers. Knowing that an air bag isn't working properly would be considered negligence on my part if I allow passengers to ride in my vehicle. The Chevy dealership said there is not current "fix" due to the open recall. Tk holdings is trying to object to my claim as well. My air bag sensor has been on for some time now. It needs to be corrected. This is due to no fault of my own.

The check airbag light will come on randomly at any given time. It usually stays on for about two days or so and goes off for several weeks before popping back on. We usually see this happen when there are temperature changes from season to season. Even though there is a recall concerning the airbag system on certain makes and models, we were surprised when our truck was not on the list.

"takata recall" I have contacted the dealership to have this airbag replaced multiple times. I contacted fred caldwell Chevrolet most recently on 12/9/17. Each time, including my last contact on 12/9/17, I have been informed that they cannot do the repair because they have not been supplied with replacement parts from the airbag company to complete the the repair.

Takata recall it has been 18 months since I first received notification that the airbags in my vehicle, designed to keep me safe, may be defective to the point of causing serious injury or death. There is still, 18 months later, no solution to this issue. This is a serious breech of safety amounts to negligence. Takata has since filed bankruptcy. Chevrolet/GM has not fulfilled their obligation to provide a vehicle that does not pose undue and increased risk or danger.

Takata recall, just like everyone else, GM is not able or willing to replace the takata inflators which brings me to the cracked dashboards. Mine is badly cracked including where the airbag would come out, which really worries me if my grandkids are in the passenger seat and there is a collision. I pray that does not happen.

There are several cracks in the dash of my 2010 Chevrolet Suburban as explained below. One of these crack is in the area of the passenger side airbag which is mounted on top of the dash. As the dash expands in the heat, typically in the hot months of the summer, the plastic portion of the dash will cover the airbag portion of the dash. I am concerned that if I do not notice this and the vehicle is involved in a crash, the airbag will not operate properly. I am afraid vehicle occupants might be injured by the dash if the airbag deployed under the plastic portion of the dash or that they will be injured if the airbag would not deploy properly. There are also two cracks in the dash in the area over the instrument cluster which allows a portion of the dash to be completely removed from the main dashboard. This portion of the dash that can be removed causes a problem on long trips due to the fact that it will vibrate out of place. My concern with this piece is its location in relation to the steering wheel. I am concerned that if this piece moves out of place, it could move into the open area at the top of the steering wheel and interfere with my ability to control the steering of the vehicle. I was also informed by a local dealership that my airbag or airbags have been recalled. In regards to both of these issues, the customer assistance representative advised that GM is aware of both problems, but that they are still investigating the problems and possible resolutions. How long does it take to investigate the cause of the dash problems? this has been a well documented problem for several years that affects many vehicles, yet GM claims not to know what caused it or to take any responsibility for the inferior dashes that were placed in quite few year models of their vehicles. I feel that this broken dash is a safety issue with the vehicle.
