Tahoe 8-cyl

I have a 2001 Tahoe with a 350 motor in it with 136,000. It began to make a noise so I took it to a mechanic. First we thought it was a pulley, but after taking the valve covers off it was noted that the noise was louder and the oil supply to the heads was not what it should be. Now I am told that it would be more cost effective to put a used motor in it for $3,000 (71,000 miles). They can not tell me why this happened and I did my part by maintaining my vehicle on time every time it needed scheduled maintenance. I am sick about this.

The roof strut that the headliner attaches to is punched too big for the plugs they installed. GM has replaced the headliner, plugs, and now want to install felt around the plud and "Ram it back in" which is not a fix for the problem. I have been very patient waiting for them to either replace the strut or the car. I am at the end of my rope with this, can you please advise me what to do?
