This is a common problem for GM Trucks from 1999 to 2004. The lines were made from a lower grade of steel. The placement of the lines on the inside of the frame should have kept them sheltered from the majority of salt spray from the front wheels. Almost every person I talk to that has had a GM truck from these years has reported the same issues.

Our right rear line blew out while exiting the freeway at 70 mph. Luckily the emergency brake worked and I was driving. I replaced the line in the parts store parking lot, and then proceeded to replace all lines on the vehicle the next weekend, including the gas lines. We no longer own the vehicle, but it is important to note for anyone else that may be looking to purchase or who already owns one.
