Tahoe Z71 5.3L V8

So, while I can control the speed of the air flow and the change from top to bottom or mixed, I cannot control the temperature. The problem is with the auxiliary heater blend door actuator.

At the moment, the fix is to remove the passenger side plastic in the very back of the vehicle. This means disconnecting the rear, passenger side speaker and rear, passenger side 12V power supply in the process. Once the plastic is removed, I have to remove the cover on the actuator to expose the electronics and gears underneath. Note that the 12V plug that powers the actuator needs to be removed and stay removed until you get it replaced. Otherwise, it’ll strip the gears. Remove the gear that drives the door and flip the door to the side you want it on. Then, replace the gear. Also, note that during this process, you’ll need to have the vehicle running to determine which door position is heat and which is A/C. When the desired position is found, place the gear back in place to lock it in position, replace the actuator’s cover, and replace the plastic shrouding (being sure to plug in the speaker and the 12V power supply in the process).
