My dashboard cracked on the left side of the passenger airbag panel. The crack was about 3" long went from the panel to the dash vent. I contacted the dealership (Service Chevrolet of Lafayette, LA) that I purchased this vehicle from and they informed me that they were aware of this problem but at this time there are no recalls therefore there is nothing that they could do about it because the vehicle warranty is only for 3 years or 36000 miles. I felt that they could have offered some sort of solution given my loyalty to them over the last 15 years. I know where I will not be shopping for my next vehicle.

Tahoe LS 4.8L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 110,000 miles

Bought a used 2007 Chevy Tahoe in March of 2011. Loved the vehicle! As expected with used vehicles, there were some dings and scratches and a few "boo-boo's. One of the first things I noticed was the handle on the front driver side was peeled off along the top, ok no biggie it's used....but after reading some of the complaints on here, it seems to be an issue as well. I noticed a crack in my dash over the steering wheel hump sometime in January this year. Have no clue how it got there, my husband chalked it up to "hot ass Texas weather" and that the dreadfully hot summer we had last year probably weakened the dash and with the temperature changes, it probably cracked. Then just this week on July 4th to be exact, I noticed another crack in the upper left hand corner of the airbag! I told my husband this is not right because I have religiously put up my sun visor and keep my dash treated with Armor-all AND I also have a covered car port in my driveway! We had the first crack repaired in march through an auto-body place and it now seems to be coming apart. So apparently it's just all cheap plastic! Called the dealership and was told that it's no longer covered under warranty and that GM is aware of the problem and would pay for half of the cost of a new dash which is still $300, plus $550 for labor!!! Really???!! They also said they would get me a new door handle for $51...didn't even ask how much they would charge to put in in! If GM is aware there is a problem you think they would offer to have them replaced at no charge to the customer considering how much these damn things cost! I busted my butt for 2 years to come up with a sizable amount of money to put down an a vehicle and then busted my butt some more to pay it off within a yer and this is the gratitude GM gives their customers! What a joke!

Tahoe Z71 5.3L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 74,000 miles

Now I am pissed. This is the second dash that has cracked in my 2007 Z71 tahoe. The first was replaced by dealership under warranty. Now less than 30k miles later later it has happened again. I called the dealer ship today (memorial day) and they asked me to come in to see what they could do. As my warranty is up, they refused to replace dash free of charge. Instead they offered me a 70/30 split where I pay 70% totaling approx $550.00. I refused and got a little irate (to say the least) as they just replaced the dash not too long ago and they said it was a problem with the dash. after a few choice words, I left. I then called my sales person who I have bought 2 other vehicles from and stated my case. He has just sent me the owner of the dealership's email and suggested I state my case with them. I will be doing this shortly, but in the meantime want to know where I can purchase a replacement dash other than the dealership. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I own a 2007 checvy Z71 tahoe that we bought literaly off the show room floor with everything you could have added. The first time my dash cracked I took it in and it was repaired under warranty. Now aprox 25000 miles later it has happened again. GM needs to understand this and do a factory recall on it.

Very obvious problem. This auto was not cheap but Chevrolet must be using inferior materials to build these expensive units. Pushing Americans toward better built foreign models Chevrolet should be embarrassed by this issue and fix it in a recall. I won't be buying another one with their attitude.

Tahoe LTZ 5.3L

  • 60,000 miles

My 2007 Tahoe dash is cracked in two different areas. I spoke with GM and they consulted with a dealer in my area. GM said they would split the costs 50/50 with me due toi the dealer telling them I either placed something heavy on the dash or pushed down on it too hard. The dealer emphatically denied having said this. So either GM is lying or the dealer is lying. The dealer said he told GM to offer the 50/50 split because he doesnt think there's a defect because he's never seen this issue before. I asked if he called other dealers in the area or checked the internet to see if this was a common problem. He said he did not and would not call any other dealers and will not check the internet because anyone can post anything on the web. Bottom line is...check your dash and call GM. Dont take no for an answer; GM knows there is a problem but of course if they blame the customer the won't have to foot the bill.

Tahoe LT3 5.3L V8

Well Crap!!! yes Dashboard cracked for a 3rd time, same places. I purchased this vehicle right off the lot with 10 miles on it in April 2007, it is now November 2011, it only has 28,300 mile on it. I take care of it with kid gloves, it has been serviced on a regular basis at the same dealership it was purchased at. It has never had any other issues, or problems. It is time to write GM... This is unacceptable, $50,000.00 SUV, that looks pristine, until you sit behind the wheel, then you feel like you are driving around with a missing front tooth... this is BS. I truly hope Dealerships and manufactures read these type of complaints. If anyone has any suggestions, as to how to have GM take responsibility for replacing the dash it would be greatly appreciated. I just called Dr. Vinyl for the 3rd time, and they have to check with the owner to see if they will fix it again under their initial $300.00 1 yr warranty.

Tahoe LT3 5.3L V8

Love my tahoe, bought it with 10 Miles on it right off the lot, still have it today. BUT August of 2010 I noticed a hairline crack in the hump of the dashboard about 3 " inches long. I took it in for service at Jim Trenery Cheverolet, in O'Fallon, MO and they looked at it and said "wow, that's unusual" The service rep, walks over to his computer, checks the vehicle, and it had just went out of warranty in April 2010. So he recommended Dr. Vinyl could repair it. Finally got around to getting it looked at in January 2011 at Dr. Vinyl, cost $300.00 to fix that crack, and they found another crack on the passenger dashboard over the airbag. The repair technician, took it down to another Chevy Dealer and spoke with some service reps, and she was told the same thing "out of warranty" nothing they will do about it. So I had it fixed, paid the $300.00 and went on my way.

Had Crack in Dashboard fixed by Dr. Vinyl, they had never seen this before, so they were so sure they fixed the crack, they even warrantied the work for 12 months (1 yr). 4 months after fixing the crack, it cracked again in the very same 2 places. I took it back to DR. Vinyl and they backed their warranty and fixed it for a second time at no charge. They were sure they fixed it this time. I was told by the tech, that the underlying framework of the dash was totally cracked, and that they built the spots up with their bonding materials and it should be OK, and they did the best they could. So this was fix number 2.

Tahoe LTZ V8

I really was enjoying my Tahoe, but since these problems have begun to arise, I am having 2nd thoughts about the Tahoe. I took my car to the car wash and afterwords realized the dash board had a crack in it right above the steering wheel. It may have already been there, but I had not noticed it before which I think I would have. Anyway, I took it to the Chevrolet Dealership and they had another GM vehicle in at the time with a cracked dash as well. The Owner, encouraged me to get my vehicle serviced with them and he would not charge me for the part, just labor of $100.00 since according to them, my vehicle was no longer under warranty. So far, my dash has cracked, I have had to replace two door handles that turned out to be plastic vice chrome and I am still trying to find out why my vehicle won't start whenever I have my doors and hatch opened at the same time to load my truck, ( this has happened more than 5 times already. I have to get a jump off. It is currently in a Chevrolet Dealership Service Department awaiting a diagnosis since 5 other places said that I do not need a new battery. I am told that the diagnostic test will cost me $95.00 so far. I am still waiting and will let you know when I get the diagnosis and final bill. I do plan to write to GM however, because this is ridiculous for the cost of this vehicle. Oh and the tires were wearing on the edges even though I had them rotated and balanced in accordance with the service plan requirements. Either they were bad to start with or the service provider who was responsible for balancing and rotating (Firestone Store) did not do a good job, because tires are not suppose to wear on the edges like mine were before replacing them. I was also told that by the company who I bought the new tires from.

I have a 2007 Chevy Tahoe that I park in my garage. Yesterday we took it out for a family trip. My wife noticed a 2 inch crack leading from the top of the air bag to the bottom of the air vent on top of the dash. I paid good money for this vehicle. I have a 2000 Honda Civic I park outside in the beaming California sun and not one crack on the dash.. Very very disappointing.. I think Chevy should take care of this problem as a manufacture recall the same way they did with the peeling door handles and the faulty heated washer fluid board..

2007 Chevy Tahoe. Under 60K miles. Crack in 4 inch crack over speedometer and crack over passenger airbag. $50K car and dashboard cracks (no accident) and radio and a/c controls need to be replaced as the buttons have worn down (3 years old) and look tacky. Love the way the car drives but interior on Tahoe is very cheap.
