Tahoe LTZ 5.3L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 163,000 miles

Started to notice a fuel smell around the rear exterior. Vehicle was taking 10-12 seconds to start. Took it to the shop and I was told the top of the fuel pump had rusted out and was spraying gas back onto my exhaust system and it could have caused a serious ignition. Who knows how long this was occurring before the odor was detected. Dealer told me that this is a "known" and "common" problem for this vehicle. That doesn't sound safe to me! As the owner, I didn't know about this apparent common and dangerous issue! $1,200 to repair.
