Tahoe LTZ 5.8L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 200,000 miles

Was on my way home from work at 3:30 in the morning when the entire instrument panel went crazy! Lighting went on and off, gauges zeroed out and the vehicle acted like it was going to do a sudden stop at 65 mph. Everything came back on but the oil gauge was showing no oil, the engine light was on, cruise control wouldn't engage, and I was getting warning lights everywhere. I immediately pulled over and shut the car off. When I restarted the car everything was back to normal but the engine light has remained on. Scariest thing in my life.

There definitely is some kind of electrical problem but I haven't been able to figure out the cause. Radio just turns off for no apparent reason. Sometimes it comes back on but most of the time it doesn't. When it's on, not all the speakers have sound. Took it to my audio guy and he says everything is hooked up correctly and should work. I've never had any issues until recently. Now all sort of things are taking place with the instrument panel, the stereo, lights flickering, engine light staying on, oil gauge bottoming out and engine surging during driving.

I bought this car in 2017 and had it checked. It was in perfect condition and I take care of it, but the things I'm experiencing are troubling. GM needs to get their stuff together before someone gets hurt or killed! If I could afford another vehicle it wouldn't be an issue but I can't. I'm so done!!!

Tahoe LTZ 6.0L V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 29,000 miles

The vehicle acted like it was possessed. As I was driving at about 55 mph the door locks started going up and down, the nav system screen went blank, then would turn on and it would start scrolling thru the pre-set station, the lights on the climate control shut off, the information bar would start flashing, all the light bars on the compass/thermometer (which is on the rear view mirror) turned on. The cruise wouldn't stay set. I drove straight to the dealer ship, because we've been having problems and actually had a recorder installed in the vehicle. The owner of the dealership and I took it for a drive and the problems persisted. After we returned to the dealership we tried to open the rear lift using the power switch button and it wouldn't respond. As soon as the vehicle was shut off and restarted the problem stopped. The dealership tried numerous solutions, changing the nav system, changing the fuses (under the battery) and finally changed the battery cables. This was an on going issue after months and months of minor problems (compared to this event) caused alot of frustration and fear.
